RODENBUSH: Doreen Betty Rodenbush (nee Rice) passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, September 23, 2019 at the age of 92 years. Betty was born in Carnduff, Saskatchewan to Nellie and Harry Rice. While growing up in Carnduff she worked in her dads shoe/canvas repair shop. In the summers she was a lifeguard at the town pool, she was also a telephone operator. In 1946 she met her future husband Ernest Rodenbush who had just returned from the war. They married and settled on the family farm in the Glen Ewen district where Betty and Ernie ran the farm. While on the farm their first 3 children Sandra, Larry and Linda were born. Mom enjoyed her years on the farm raising her kids and tending garden, milking cows, etc. In 1957 Ernie sold the farm and the family moved to Oxbow where they worked various jobs until 1959 when they moved to Brandon. Shortly after moving to Brandon, their youngest child, Daniel, was born. Mom worked at the Prince Edward Hotel, Imperial Taxi, Assiniboine Community College and Brandon University, to name a few. Once the flow of grandchildren began, Bettys new life purpose was born. From that point on she was affectionately known to all as Momsie, Grama B and Grams. In the late 1970s, with the help of son-in-law Bob Green, a cabin was built at Otter Lake, which became very busy with family and friends. Betty hosted weekend after weekend leaving fond memories of all who were lucky enough to join her there. As the years passed and grandkids grew, Betty spent her time with friends at local community centres perfecting her crib and whist games. She also spent time snuggling with her furry cat companion Dufus. Summers brought many family gatherings, swimming in the pool in Larry and Joans backyard bringing back memories of her time as a lifeguard in Carnduff. With everyone cheering her on, Betty perfected the canon ball, landing her last one with a splash in her 80th year. In her last few years, while making herself at home in Fairview, surrounded by family photos, and many friends, she continued to enjoy cards with Sandra, Larry and Joan weekly, and very much enjoyed the staff. She was always loving, kind and positive with a smile on her face. The staff will remember her daily greetings of; Are you working hard or hardly working? or Hey good lookin whats cookin? Betty is survived by her brother Norman (Audrey) and sister Shirley; daughter Sandra Green and her three children Roberta (Randy) Kostersky and their three children Chad (Nez) Burkowsky and son Tidus, Adam Burkowsky, and Samantha (Austin) Verbree and their children Serenity and Sebastian, Jennifer Green (Derek Berg) and their girls Jordyn Johnson and Dallas Gates, Christina (Russell) Lawrence and their two girls, Mya and Madelyn; son Larry (Joan) and their three children Shara (Shane) Sanko and their children Kaden, Grady and Beckham, Joel Rodenbush and Tess (Ben) Parry and their children Phenix and Kali; daughter Linda (Scott) Mossing; son Danny (Teresa) and his two children Zachary and Jessica (Peter) Sego and their children Christopher and Theodore.
