MEALY: Melvyn (Mel) William Mealy, born August 21st, 1931, Fairfax, MB, passed away November 11th, 2019 at home. Mel was the second child of 5. Born to William and Aleta Mealy of Fairfax, MB. A carpenter by trade, he spent 16 years in BC working construction, returning to Brandon he continued his employment. He then resided in Minto, MB for 13 years, he spent some time working at the Minto School as a janitor and from there he retired. He took pride in everything he did and made many accomplishments. Mel and Lois moved to Riverside where they lived for 19 years before relocating to Brandon, MB for 7 years where they currently reside. During his time at Riverside you could always find him in the shop constructing something. There was no such thing as scrap anything and everything could be used for a project. Mel loved to spend time with his son Jason and grandson Grady. Whether it was on the Wawanesa dam fishing, ice fishing or hunting at Riverside it was time well spent and will be cherished forever. He always appreciated and looked forward to his daily calls from Jason and his weekly visits. Visits from brother Bill, nephew Dale, nieces Rena and Michelle were filled with hours of laughter and reminiscing stories of the earlier years. Pops will be well remembered for all of his story telling! He will be lovingly remembered by his partner of 39 years Lois Duffield Grieve, son Jason (Melanie), grandchildren Grady (Michelle), Courtney (Nathan), Tristian and Jolie, great grandchildren Lily, Parker and Claire. The family would like to thank Dr. du Plooy and Dr. Nell for the caring and kindness that was given to Mel. Mel wishes will be honored and there will be no funeral. There will be a private interment at a late date.
