SLASHINSKY: Helen (nee Gawryluk) of Onanole, MB was born on July 4, 1935. She passed away at the age of 84 years on April 1, 2020. She grew up just south of Sandy Lake on the family farm and attended Sandy Lake School. She met Bill Slashinsky and they were married at Sandy Lake Church on October 28, 1060. They had three boys, Lorne, Dennis, and Larry. She worked hard on the Slashinsky family farm, south-west of Onanole. She cooked for the work crews, looked after the house, and spent much time combining and completing other farm work. She sold farm fresh eggs, creating many friendships. She started working off the farm in 1980 and finished her working career at Southgate in Onanole. She enjoyed visiting with the people she worked with and met while at her job. She loved visiting, going for drives to RMNP, and going for ice cream, where more visiting would happen. She would get a twinkle in her eye when she was about to tell a funny story and a slight grin. She was also a master at Sevens, often winning the game. In her spare time, mom liked to watch the calves play around in the pasture. She really liked her Kitty laying on her lap. Mom was a traditional Ukrainian. For Ukrainian Christmas and Easter, she would create master pieces of Ukrainian dishes. A service was held on April 7, 2020 at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church to commemorate her life. She will be remembered by her husband Bill, her sons Lorne, Dennis (Kathy), and Larry; Niece Marlene (Rick); grand daughters Tina and Teresa (Marc); and great grandchildren Taylor, Isla, Maddison, and Lochlan. The family wishes to thank those who sent cards and gifts of condolences. Donation in her memory may be made to a charity of ones choice. There is a video of the service on Raes Funeral Home website, where condolences may also be placed.Raes Funeral Service of Shoal lake and Erickson were in care of the arrangements. www.raesfs.ca
