HELENE ESTHER STANWAY

Helene Esther Stanway, in her 96th year, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Apr. 27, 2019. Born in Sundown, MB on Oct. 12, she was the eldest daughter of Anne and Frank Nykyforchyn, both predeceased. Beloved wife of Robert (Bob) Stanway (deceased 2001), a Veteran of WWII, who served with the Royal Canadian Navy. Cherished mother of Dr Eileen, Philip and Jennifer (Lee). Loving grandmother of Shawn and Lara. Sister of Pauline and Justine. Her two brothers, John and Paul, her sister Margot and nieces Linda and Annette predeceased her. Helene will be lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, step-family and many dear long-term friends.

Upon Helene’s retirement, she enjoyed more than 40 years in Loretto and Alliston, ON expressing her passions in life, superb gardening skills, caring for neighbours and their families, preparing fabulous meals from her favourite recipes and knitting for those in her community. Helene will always be remembered for her graciousness, listening to her friends and family while sharing advice and reflections.

Honouring her wishes, cremation has taken place and Helene’s Celebration of Life in Alliston, ON and burial next to her father and her husband in Ottawa, ON will follow.
