MELVIN EDWARD WYRYHA
Apr. 8, 1952-Dec. 19, 2018

Melvin Wyryha, age 66, of Pansy, MB, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018 at the St Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB.

Melvin Edward Wyryha was born on Apr. 8, 1952 on the family farm in Pansy, MB to Jim and Pauline. Melvin met a wonderful woman named Christine on Feb. 7, 1974, and they were married Aug. 13, 1977. They were married for 41 years.

He is survived by his wife Christine, son Richard (Shean), daughter Amanda, and son Jason (Audra); grandchildren Christopher (Haylee), Kyla (Jordan Penner) Jessica and Alexis; step-grandson Zach. He is also survived by sisters Adline and Roseanne and brothers Lawerance and Bobby.

He was predeceased by his parents, in-laws, brother Emil, one sister Martha, sister-in-law Wally and one brother-in-law Peter.

Melvin worked at Barkman Concrete for 40 years and he retired at the age of 65. His hobbies and interests included fishing, hunting, and quad rides by himself in the evening.

He loved doing things with his family like going for ice cream with the grandchildren. Melvin loved to travel with his wife. They travelled to places like British Columbia to see friends Neil and Lisa, going to Germany to visit family, and one of the highlights of travelling was the boat cruise to Jamaica, and also to the Amish.

Melvin also liked pinching perogies with his wife and also did fundraisers with Pansy Hall and Sarto Hall. He would love to wake up at 4:30 a.m. to do dishes. (Mom, you now can buy a dishwasher. Dad won’t divorce you).

Melvin and Christine started their own family farm in 1979, not far from Melvin’s birthplace. Melvin loved his farm and teaching his children and grandchildren the importance of love and hard work.

Melvin fell ill on Sept. 1, 2018 and was admitted to Steinbach Hospital. Then he was admitted to St Boniface Hospital, transferred back to Steinbach for 48 hours, was rushed to Concordia Hospital on Sept. 12, and Sept. 24 was admitted back to St Boniface where he stayed until he passed peacefully in the early morning of December the 19th of 2018.

The family would like to thank all the hospitals for all the care they provided for Melvin. The family would also like to thank all the visitors that took time to see him and to lift his spirits.

Well Dad, you finally made the funeral announcements.

“Now you don’t have to go to work.”
