With mixed emotions we announce the passing of John Arthur Peters. Dad was born into a loving Christian family on Nov. 30, 1929 near Tofield, AB. In his teens the family moved to Matsqui, BC. In 1958, he came to Mennonite Brethren Bible College in Winnipeg. He married Helena Hildebrand in August 1961. Dad and Mom farmed at Île des Chênes for 32 years, and then moved to Winnipeg. They enjoyed 25 years in their house and recently moved into an apartment at Donwood.
John A Peters leaves behind his wife Helena, three daughters and three sons: Barb and Larry Driedger, Neoma and Dave Goertzen, Lorne and Carol Peters, Vern and Lorie Peters, Delbert and Anita Peters, Heather and Derek Peters, 24 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial service for John A. Peters will be held Thursday, June 21 at 1 p.m. at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Rd in Winnipeg, with burial prior to the service at 10 a.m. at Cannon School District Cemetery west of Rosenort, MB. Viewing at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main St, Winnipeg, on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
