NICK CHUBATY
It is with much sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father and grandfather, Nick Chubaty, on Sunday, May 13, 2018.
Dad was born on Jan. 21, 1942 to Wasyl and Mary Chubaty of St Malo, MB and grew up on the family farm. He left Manitoba to seek work in Edmonton in 1964. In February 1965, he married his wife Rose who joined him in Edmonton, where they eventually raised two daughters.
Dad worked as a tradesman in the roofing and sheet metal industry all over Alberta, even venturing to the Northwest Territories for a time for work. He was proud of the many buildings he worked on over the years.
In 2015, after Rose’s passing, he moved back to St Malo to be closer to family and took up residence at the Chalet Malouin, where he quickly made many lasting friendships. His sense of humour, smile and soft-spoken nature will certainly be missed by all who knew him.
He leaves to mourn his passing his children, Christina (Victor) and Laurie (Larry Jr); his six grandchildren, Cody (Jessica), Cailin (Antoine), Caycie, Darren (Caity), Tyler and Hailey; and three great-grandchildren, Leia, Lincoln and Abigail. Dad is also survived by five sisters, Agnes, Jean, Gloria (Wally), Rosie and Olga (Jerry); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was predeceased by his wife Rose, as well as brothers John, Peter and Billy, and sisters Anne, Sophie, Teenie, Helen and Lena.
A memorial celebration will take place on Monday, June 4 at the St Pierre Recreation Centre, 545 Hebert Ave, St Pierre Jolys, at 11 a.m. Private interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date.
