YVONNE BOULIANNE
(nee Baron)
Sept. 23, 1940-Nov. 16, 2017

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of our precious and dearly beloved Mom, Mémère, Mémé, “The Other Mémère”, Ma Tante, Auntie, Sister and Friend on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, at the St Boniface General Hospital, Winnipeg, MB.

Left to mourn her passing are: her loving husband of 53 years, Jude; their two daughters, Celeste (Roger) and Brigitte (Ron); and son, Jude Jr. (Anne). Mom’s greatest joy were her grandchildren, Jodi (Ken), Jazmine (Devin), Brittany (Marcello), Courtney (Chris), Jeffrey, Mack and Ella along with her great-grandchildren Rowan and Aubree. Each one was her “favourite”.

Mom was born in Gravelbourg, SK on Sept. 23, 1940. She was the second youngest of 12 children. She lived in the small farming community until graduation and then left for Regina to pursue a nursing career at the Regina Grey Nuns Hospital. Her and Dad’s great love story began when she was set up on a “blind date” with a dashing young clerk who worked in the office and there was no looking back. They married two years later and quickly got down to business producing two daughters within two years.

In 1968, they packed up the family and moved to Bemidji, MN where Dad began his secondary education at the university. Mom worked at the local hospital and became the surrogate mother to the entire university hockey team. After the birth of their son Jude, Dad began his teaching career at the Ste Anne School and Mom continued her nursing career at the Seine Medical Centre. She remained there for the next 25 years while moonlighting occasionally at St Amant Centre. A new path in her career led her to Home Care where she loved to care for and comfort the sick and elderly. She carried this compassion with her at the Villa Youville until her retirement last year.

In addition to nursing, some of the things that brought her great enjoyment included golfing, fishing, woodcarving, playing cards and games with her many friends. But her greatest pleasure was being involved in her grandchildren’s activities.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 2:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to establish a nursing scholarship fund in her honour to be awarded annually.

The family would like to give special thanks to the many friends and family who have provided help and comfort during this difficult time.

“I am not sure exactly what heaven will be like, but I do know that when we die and it comes time for God to judge us, he will NOT ask, ‘How many good things have you done in your Life?’, rather he will ask, ‘How much LOVE did you put into what you did?’”-Mother Teresa
