Arthur D. Reimer went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 19, 2015 at the age of 87 years and 11 months. He was born February 23, 1927 on a farm near Steinbach, Manitoba, the 11th of 12 children.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary of 19 years; children Morley (Ann) of Grand Rapids, MN; Barbra (Jerry) Kroeker of Mitchell, MB; Donna Dokuchie (Steve Smallwood) of Lloydminster, AB; Darrel (Suzanne) of Vanderhoof, BC; step-children, all of Edmonton, AB: Frieda (Bill) Neufeld, John (Rosie) Hildebrand, Herman (Claudia) Hildebrand, Dennis (Dolly) Hildebrand; 12 grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister Elsie Cleavely of Swan River, MB; and brother Milton (Clarice) of Lynchburg, VA.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (nee Klassen) of 44 years, parents John B. and Maria (Dueck) Reimer; step-mother Elizabeth (Dueck) Reimer; two siblings in childhood; brothers John (Mary) and Bennie (Helen); sisters Margaret (Abe) Reimer; Nettie (Klaas) Unger; Mary (Ben) Loewen; Tina (Ben) Hiebert) and Adina (Frank) Friesen.
Viewing will be held on Friday, January 23, at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, followed by a private burial at the Heritage Cemetery.
If friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Art to the Union Gospel Mission, PO Box 1073; Stn. Main; Winnipeg., MB, R3C 2X4.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Darren Reimer, the nursing staff at Bethesda Regional Hospital and the Home Care staff for their care and compassion.
