ANDREAS (ANDY) FRIESEN

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andreas (Andy) Friesen, of Steinbach, on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona, at the age of 56 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Edna (nee Rempel), and they were blessed with three boys and two grandchildren: Stephen & Kristen and their children Jayden and Olive, of Edmonton, Alberta, Randy and his friend Krystal of Steinbach, and Stan of Steinbach. He will be missed by his mother Nettie Friesen of Paraguay, three brothers, five sisters and their families.

Andy was predeceased by his father Peter Friesen in March 2012.

Andy was born in Paraguay on June 18, 1958. He was baptized upon the confession of his faith in Jesus in May 1980 in Colony Bergthal, Paraguay. Andy married Edna on November 16, 1980 and they moved to Canada in May of 1984, where he took up employment as a carpenter. This was work he enjoyed until his passing.

Viewing will be held Friday, January 16, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy 52 W, Steinbach, MB. There will also be a time of viewing at the church prior to the service.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at New Bothwell Sommerfeld Mennonite Church, New Bothwell, MB, with burial to follow at New Bothwell Cemetery.

The family wishes to express appreciation and gratitude for all the prayers, words of encouragement, cards, and expressions of sympathy received from family and friends.
