ROBERT JAMES PENNER

Robert passed away peacefully at 11:47 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014, at the Bethesda Hospital with his parents, George and Marion Penner, and sister Valerie at his bedside.

Robert was born in the Winkler Hospital. He was born with a mental handicap which later developed into physical handicaps as well.

He spent several years at St. Amant in Winnipeg, until he became very ill there and was not expected to survive the illness. However, he did recover and with time his health improved. He then moved to the Manitoba Developmental Centre in Portage La Prairie, where he stayed until 2006. It was at this time he moved with his brother Brian to 34 Deerfield, where he lived with enVision in Steinbach. He spent eight happy years with his brother there.

Robert is survived by his parents, George and Marion Penner, his brother Brian, his sister Valerie and nephews Yishai and Tobiah Markovitz, and his niece Tavi Markovitz. He was predeceased by his brother Harold on March 10, 2014.

We especially wish to extend our thanks to the staff at enVision in Steinbach, for the wonderful care they have provided for Robert and his brother Brian.

The funeral service was held Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy 52 W, Steinbach, MB, with viewing at the chapel prior to the service. Burial followed at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
