DAVID FRIESEN
David Friesen passed away peacefully, with family at his side, on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at the Heritage Life Personal Care Home in Niverville, at the age of 84 years.
He is survived by: his wife of 42 years, Vera, his son Wes and Brynn, Bronwyn, Bowen, Finn, Halsten, of Edmonton, AB; son Paul and Natasha, Everett, Alyssa, of Invermere, BC; brother Peter (Sara) and two sisters: Teenie (Hardy Kehler) and Bettie (George Teichrieb); and sister-in-law Selma Friesen.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Abram and Maria, one brother in infancy, and his siblings: Helen, Abe, John, and Mary.
Dave was born June 1, 1930 in Blumenfeld, MB. He was raised on the farm in Lowe Farm. He began teaching in 1954 in various rural Manitoba schools (including Lindal, Graysville and Miami) and finished his teaching career at the Keewatin Community College at The Pas.
Dave was an avid reader and many subjects interested him, especially matters of spiritual importance. He was actively involved with the Gideon’s Bible distribution. He enjoyed the outdoors and tinkering on small projects. He treasured spending time with family, and attending reunions.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Life Personal Care Home for their care, compassion and support through Dave’s final days.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Steinbach MB Church. Burial will follow at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideon’s International in Canada.
