ARLEY FRANK REIMER
Arley Frank Reimer, 89, of Steinbach, died Wednesday, October 8, 2014.
He was born to the late Frank and Gertrude Reimer on June 5, 1925 in Dalmeny, Sask. The family moved to Steinbach in 1939, where he spent his time working with his father and brothers plastering and stuccoing.
Arley met Katie Friesen at church and they were married on August 10, 1947 and were blessed with three girls. He started his own plastering company, traveling all over the province. This continued until health problems forced him to make a career change. He graduated from Red River College and became a teacher. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota during the summers graduating in 1971. He taught at Steinbach Regional from 1972 till 1991. He loved teaching passionately and it was hard for him to accept retirement but then he discovered the MCC Thrift Store. He volunteered his time there enjoying both the co-workers and the shoppers.
Arley loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and passed down his love of woodworking to them. He patiently taught them about the wood and the tools. Many of them are actively pursuing the art of woodworking.
He was a prayer warrior and spent time every day praying for his family and friends. He read his Bible sometimes hourly in these last years and had committed much to memory.
Arley is survived by his wife Katie; three children Karen (Gene) Entz, Chris Friesen, Cori (Mel) Brown; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, one son-in-law, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
If friends desire, donations may be made in Arley’s memory to Kidney Foundation of Canada (Manitoba Branch; 1-452 Dover court Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3Y 1G4) or Gospel for Asia (245 King Street East; Stoney Creek, ON L8G 1L9)
