ELSIE JEAN (JEAN) WALLIS
(nee POLLOCK)
May 6, 1918 - October 1, 2020
She was predeceased by her mother and father, Annie and Byron Pollock, as well as all of her siblings, Lucille, Cliff and Bernard. She was married to her husband Doug Wallis for 61 years, with Doug passing away in 2011. Her memory will be lovingly cherished by her four children, Betty Ann (Clem), Bonnie (Bill), Bob (Jan) and Sherry (Gord); her six grandchildren, Damon, Aaron, Rhianne, Jesse, Chelsea and Krista, and her nine great-grandchildren, Ronan, Rei, Kaiya, Ben, Beth, Kira, Cinci, Wyatt and Isabel.
Jean was a strong, social and loving person that held her family and friends close to her heart. Jean loved to sing and with her beautiful voice sang throughout her life. She and Dad loved nothing more than getting together with friends to play instruments, sing and dance the night away. Her family gathered at the lake together every year for 35 years where the highlight of her trip would be to listen to her children and grandchildren play the guitar and sing all the oldies that she enjoyed. Mom loved to travel and she and Dad enjoyed many trips together, she even travelled to Thailand at the age of 95. Golf was also a passion of theirs and she played well into her 90s. Bridge was one of her favourite card games and she played right up until the age of 102. Mom could sew anything and we all had something handmade by Mom. She knit and crocheted and even recovered her own couch and chairs one year. Once their children moved away, Jean and Doug sponsored a little girl from Senegal through World Vision supporting her and her family until she finished school.
Jean's passing will leave a significant void in the lives of her family and friends. We'll remember you best Mom by gathering as a family and singing all your favourite songs that we all know so well. Rest in peace Mom, as you said so many times yourself, "life was good".
A private family interment will occur at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, and if you wish, donations can be made to Jean's favourite charities: Operation Smile Canada or Siloam Mission.
