BOHDAN (DON) NESTOR WASYLIW
August 5, 1939
- July 15, 2020

On Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at Selkirk Regional Health Centre, at the age of 80 years, Bohdan 'Don' Nestor Wasyliw peacefully passed away.
Left to cherish Don's memory are his daughters, Suzanne (Fletcher) and Linda (Jesse); sisters, Eugenia, Olga (Robert) and Helene (Nelson); brother Raymond (Val); much beloved cat Yoshi, and many other family members and friends. Don was predeceased by his wife Jean, his parents, Emil and Katherine Wasyliw, and his sister Zora.
Don was born in Canora, Saskatchewan, and grew up in Buchanan. One of his earliest memories was, when he was five, he admired how the tubes in a radio lit up, while listening to Matthew Halton report on events from the Second World War, thus sparking a lifelong love of electronics. Don graduated from the Radio and Television Servicing course through the Saskatchewan Technical Institute in Moose Jaw, in 1963. He eventually moved to Selkirk, Manitoba, where he met hairdresser Jean, who he married in 1967 and raised two daughters with. Don worked for many years as a radio and television technician, early on at Mosquin's in Selkirk, and later at Blair TV in Winnipeg, until his retirement in 2007.
Don had many interests, including carpentry, mechanics, playing bingo, watching football and hockey, drawing political cartoons and Ufology, etc. He was an avid fisherman, and in 1973, he was awarded Master Angler status. Don also enjoyed CB radio, and was a member of Radio Canada DX Group.
Don was a quiet, soft spoken man with a dry sense of humour, who most of all, loved spending time with family and friends.
A service will be held at a later date.
Donations in Don's memory can be made to Parkinson Canada.

Condolences may be left on his tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
