KEVIN WIEBE

A life well lived has come to an end far too soon - on October 20, 2020 we said our goodbyes to Kevin Wiebe who has gone home to be with Jesus. Kevin was a man who from a very young age gave everything he had to help people and make this world a better place.
Born July 25, 1965, he was the only son to proud parents, Peter and Shirley Wiebe.
Summers were spent camping in the Whiteshell with family and close friends where Kevin found his first love, fishing. Through the years he would share this love and his best spots with countless others, many of whom considered Kevin to be like a brother or mentor. One of his fondest
memories was taking his dad to a fly in
fishing resort up north, something that brought joy to them both.
Kevin was known as a "Jack of all trades" . He researched everything from cooking
gourmet meals to fixing vehicles and
computers, to photography and most recently finding the right home for his clients as a
realtor. All this he did to share with others, he had the most generous soul.
Kevin was an adventurous soul as well. He cycled across western Canada in his younger years, was a competitive cyclist and
volunteered with cycling groups and events. He had a passion for curling from a young age, playing in many MCA bonspiels and even made it to the Provincials with his good friend Mark Lukowich. But his impact was in relationships, having a beer, volunteering of his time in to teach others the game, and
masterminding the Ironman Outdoor curling bonspiel with his one of best friends Eric Dawson, which continues to this day bringing people together and raising money for
charity.
Kevin met the love of his life Krista in the summer of 1995 and soon after their daughter Caitlyn, his pride and joy, joined the picture. Many adventures were had, skydiving,
travelling to Australia, Hawaii, various road trips, and most recently Mexico and Belize. But most of the best memories were closer to home camping as a family.
Kevin and Krista both made the decision to be baptized in order to follow Jesus in 2011 and went on to build deep relationships, serve in leadership roles and volunteer in many
capacities in the Winnipeg Church of Christ. They travelled to Thailand with Caitlyn to serve with HOPE Volunteer Corps in 2016 making an impact with many along the way.
Kevin's love for Jesus shone through in
every interaction, his warm smile, funny
stories, words of advice and encouragement and selfless gestures drew hundreds of
people close to him. His goal was to leave nothing on the table in all that he
accomplished. A Scripture in the Gospel of John, Chapter 21 verse 25, comes to mind that describes how Kevin imitated His Lord and Saviour, "Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written." He will be sorely missed by so many people, but none more than his best friend, his wife Krista.
Kevin's last month was a difficult, but thankfully short battle with cancer. Countless friends longed to see him one last time, but the end came too quickly. We are grateful for his dear cousin, David Penner and his best friend and minister, David Jung who both stayed with Kevin overnight during the final part of his journey to ensure that he was never alone. We are so grateful for the kind and compassionate staff at Riverview Health Centre that ensured his days were as
comfortable as possible. Kevin was faithful to the end and his wife and daughter were by his side. We are also grateful for all the family, friends, co-workers, neighbours and members of the Winnipeg Church of Christ for their past and future support in the upcoming days.
Kevin is predeceased by his parents whom he cherished, Peter and Shirley Wiebe. He leaves behind his loving wife Krista; devoted daughter Caitlyn; parents-in-law, Peter and Norma Wiebe; sister-in-law Wendi Wiebe; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and brothers and sisters in Christ that were as close as family.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family are asked to make a donation to one of the
following: HOPE Worldwide Canada, where a grant will be established to help underserved youth; Riverview Health Centre Foundation; CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or a charity of your choice.
A Celebration of Life will be held online in the upcoming weeks and the link will be shared widely. Kevin's ashes will be scattered at his favourite fishing hole in the spring with close family and friends in attendance.
