DROST: Regina Virginia (née Hendzel) passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Fairview Personal Care Home at the age of 94 years. She was born on October 20, 1926 in Brandon, Manitoba. Virginia grew up in a large family, which she remained close with throughout the years. Virginia married the love of her life Edward Drost on June 26, 1948. Together they raised seven children. Mom was a homemaker and worked hard bringing up a family of seven children. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and knitting in her spare time. She always put family first, stressing the importance of commitment, love and being together. Mom was an excellent cook and over the years there were many family get togethers at their home, leaving many cherished memories for her family. Our mother and father loved to travel and there were many trips to the United States and Ontario to visit their siblings as well as to visit their children in Kamloops, California and Fort Erie. Mom's faith was very important to her. She attended mass weekly and prayed the rosary daily until Alzheimers disease took that ability away from her. Virginia was predeceased by her husband Edward, son Richard and son-in-law Larry. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Robert (Teresa), Lorna, Karen (Allan), Debra (Richard), Darlene (Les), Edwardine (Mike); her sister Amelia, and cousin Stella, as well as grandchildren: Jeffrey, Matthew, David (Jamie), Justin (Colette), Jenna (Casey), Chris (Jan), Aaron (Amanda), Kelsey (Mike), Stephanie (Luis), Olivia. Great grandchildren Brayden, Kolton, Hunter, Arissa, and numerous nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Dr. Davis for his guidance and kindness to our mother during her stay at Fairview. Heartfelt thanks to Debbie (from A Call Away) for your weekly visits and friendship. Our mother was always happy to see you. To the staff on third floor at Fairview; you were like Mom's second family. Your kindness, compassion given to our mother will not be forgotten. Due to Covid-19 a private Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church with Fr. John Okosun as Celebrant. The family has invited you to watch the livestream of the Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia remotely by visiting Virginia's tribute page on the Brockie Donovan website at www.brockiedonovan.com. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Virginia may be made to St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church, 327-4th Street, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 3H1.
