EASTCOTT: Phyllis Cecil May Eastcott (nee Hyde) January 17, 1922 – November 16, 2020, passed away peacefully with family at her side on November 16, 2020, in the Riverdale Personal Care Home. She was one of the last living female Metis army vets from WWII. She served all over Canada as a trained stenographer but had many jobs from running canteens to secretary to a doctor. She met and later married her husband Wilton (Slim) Eastcott (1947-2012) when they were stationed in Portage La Prairie, a Rehab Hospital for returning vets. She is survived by her 3 children Wilton (Geo), Leslie (Taylor/Houttuin), and Richard. She is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews as well as many other family members. She was the last surviving member of her family of 13 siblings, born and raised in Fisher Branch Municipality. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. We would like to thank the staff of the Riverdale Health Center for their loving support of Phyllis during the last number of years. For those so desiring, donations may be made in Phyllis's memory to the Riverdale PCH, Rivers, MB, R0K 1X0.
