It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, Norman Burke, on November 15, 2020.
He will be missed tremendously by all; his daughters, Lorraine (Bob), Sandra (Don); and son Darryl (Deanne); grandchildren, Jennifer, Alexis (Steven), Stephanie (Benjamin), Holly, and Graeme; great-grandson Joshua. Norm is survived by his sister Florence, along with his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Sophie Borushyski; brothers, Edward and Henry; sisters, Helen and Viola.
Norman was very dedicated to his family and a loyal friend to many. He was always there to lend a helping hand to all who asked.
Norm always demonstrated hard work, tenacity and integrity. He was employed at the Weston shops for CPR, where he was a faithful employee for 40 Years. He retired as the Assistant General Works Manager, and obtained a Degree in Business Administration during his career journey.
Retirement gave him time to visit favourite places; Hawaii, Palm Spring, and visiting his brother Henry in Vegas. He loved to garden and make his family favourites, borscht and pickles. He enjoyed watching sports, curling and golfing with family and friends. He enjoyed the tranquil scenery of Caddy Lake while at his brother Ed's cottage.
A special thanks to the Simkin Centre for their endless compassion and dedicated care. God bless all the front line workers. You are "All Heros" to us!

Dad: your love, your patience, your
understanding, your wisdom and your
amazing sense of family will live on with
us forever. You have given us gifts that are
more precious than anything in the world.
You will always live in our hearts.

  • My condolences to the Burke family. I worked with Norman for over 20 years and all the positions he was promoted to he brought his full energy and expertise. He was a gentlemen and a pleasure to work with. Always spoke well of his family and friends and I always remember he was a great patient when his son was going through the dentistry program. Rest in peace - Posted by: Doug Simpson (co-worker) on: Nov 25, 2020

  • I was saddened to learn of Norm’s passing. I had the pleasure of bumping into Norm a few years ago in Winnipeg and surprisingly, he remembered me after almost 30 years from my brief time as an apprentice at Weston Shops. Norm was kind and decent boss, tough but always fair. He was an absolute gentleman and a pleasure to work for. My prayers are with the entire family. God bless. - Posted by: John Majowski (Fellow employee, Calgary, Alberta) on: Nov 24, 2020

  • My parents purchased their home from Norman roughly 15 years ago. At the time, I had just transferred schools and made a new friend, Kerri-Lynn. It was her mother who suggested that my parents get in touch with Mr. Burke, regarding the sale of his home. Upon meeting with him and touring the property, he graciously decided to sell to them, stating that he liked the idea that I'd have a friend across the street. I spent the majority of my teenage years in the home, making many memories with friends and family. I will always be thankful to Mr. Burke for making the decision to sell to my parents. Our condolences to your family, he was a very nice, caring man. - Posted by: Jennifer (Acquaintance ) on: Nov 23, 2020

  • Norman Burke. What a great guy to work for and work with. His integrity and honesty was beyond most. I never heard him speak badly of anyone. He was totally committed to all he did no matter. I am proud to have known him. My payers and condolences to his family and friends. Gord McMaster - Posted by: Gord McMaster (Fellow employee at Weston Shops) on: Nov 21, 2020

  • Lorraine, Sandra & Darrell, so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I have fond memories of Sunday dinners at your home or ours, and the Fish Dinners as a whole family. - Posted by: Darlene Everaert (cousin) on: Nov 21, 2020

  • On behalf of my family and myself, we are very saddened to hear of Uncle Norm’s passing. He was so very kind to his Auntie Nellie and Uncle Louis, my grandparents, after my Dad’s passing, their only son. I got to know him better too during that time and am very glad that I did. His presence was a real comfort to us. We enjoyed many visits with Uncle Norm in Winnipeg when we were “home” and in Kelowna, BC when he was there to visit his old friend. We will miss him very much. Our hearts go out to Lorraine, Sandra, Darryl and all of his family. - Posted by: Julie Rink (nee Grenda) (2nd Cousin) on: Nov 21, 2020
