WRIGHT: Charles Robert (Bob), January 7, 1933 – December 4, 2020. Dad was the first of four boys born to Charles and Louisa Wright in Blackpool, England. In June 1964 Dad, Mum and all six kids immigrated to Canada to join his parents and family who had arrived ahead of us. They settled in Brandon where Dad worked at Simplot Chemicals for a time, later, after taking Commercial Art at ACC Dad began a career at the old Coop Store on Princess Avenue where he was employed as their 'sign painter' for several years. Eventually, Dad continued his education at Brandon University and became a teacher. His first and last teaching position was at Tanner's Crossing School in Minnedosa where many students passed through his art classes. Taking early retirement, our parents retired to Ladysmith, BC where Dad became involved with their local legion. Dad spent his days between his Legion duties and caring for their stunning flower gardens. Eventually, the desire to be closer to their children would bring them back to Manitoba. Following Mum's passing, Dad remained heavily involved with the Legion Branch #3. Dad married his second wife Joan Purvis. Together they were both very active with the Legion both executive positions and participating in fund raising. Dad and Joan enjoyed several trips to Alberta as well as several visits with Joan's family on the East Coast. The last few years were spent collecting stamps from every country in the world and reconnecting his nephew Ken from England. They had a special connection and Dad was thrilled when Ken and his wife Carole came to visit in the summer of 2018. Left with memories, his wife Joan, sons, David (Karla) Alan, Philip (Nancy) daughters, Gail (Gord), Karen (Bruce) and Jacki (Dean). Joan's sons, Tim (Barb) and Terry. His only surviving sibling, Chris (Candy) 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews both in Canada and the UK. Last but not least his faithful furry buddy, Onslow. Interment will take place at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Sorry to hear of "Mr. Wrights" passing. I fondly remember him teaching art at Tanners Crossing. He always had a sparkle in his eyes and was filled with good humour. Condolences to the family. - Posted by: Barb Kingdon (student) on: Jan 12, 2021
