DONALD GEOFFREY BOOTH
October 21, 1980 – December 28, 2020

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Donny Booth.
He will be greatly missed by his parents, Denny and Leslie; his grandparents, Roy and Helen Beenham; his brothers, Michael (Hilary) and David (Crystal); his nieces, Keelin, Danica and Tarryn; his nephew, Declan; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and a multitude of friends.
Donny grew up in Winnipeg, graduating from Silver Heights Collegiate in 1998. He excelled at every sport that he pursued, from hockey to snowboarding, but his passions were snowmobiling and boating. He loved the lake; a love that began at the Booth cottage on West Hawk Lake and led to a career as a realtor and permanent residence at Lake of the Woods.
Donny lived life on his terms; he decided early on what was important to him and put those things at the centre of his life. He possessed a genuine joy and love for those around him; his spirit was contagious and drew people to him. He truly loved his family and friends, making his nieces and nephew laugh, rippin' in the Donzi, adventures with cousins, touring with friends on the lake in the Otter B, snowmobiling, fishing, Captain Morgan, having heart to heart chats, baseball, wakeboarding, lighting epic bonfires, and most of all, he loved life.
Donny was one of a kind and will always have a special place in our hearts. One thing was certain, Donny always had your back. He will forever be our Captain and undisputed King of the Lake.
A celebration of Donny's life will be held this summer.
Donations in his honour can be made to Lake of the Woods Hospital Foundation, 21 Sylvan Street West, Kenora, ON P9N 3W7.
In his memory, take time to be kind, reach out to friends and family and smile.

  • I was shocked and devastated to hear about Donny’s passing. Growing up as his neighbour at home and the lake and as a schoolmate, my childhood memories of him are still vivid and I will always cherish and remember him as we were children. He had an amazing spirit, humour and sense of adventure. His personality was unforgettable, my late grandmother Meda always giggled and gushed about how charming he was. He had a such a way with people. I wish I had a chance to know him better as we grew into adults. Please accept my sincerest condolences, I can’t imagine the grief you are all dealing with. - Posted by: Kristy McDonald (Jenion) (Friend) on: Jan 26, 2021

  • Denny and Leslie, you raised an amazing man and Donny was one of the greatest men I have ever had the privilege of calling a friend. Some of my favorite memories with Donny involve late night cruises, boathouse jumps, getting lost in Devil’s Gap in heavy fog, walking through Treaty, late night heartfelt conversations, winter meetups at the A-frame and so many more that can’t be mentioned. Here or not, Donny will forever be a great friend, and I am among so many who feels a tremendous void without our man Donny to brighten up the room with his hilarity and genuine friendship. Thank you for giving us this amazing man, he will forever live in my memory and mind’s eye and his voice will echo with every memory and reminder of him. Boothy? Boothy! Very nice. We love you bud. - Posted by: Lee Nuttall (Friend) on: Jan 24, 2021

  • Donnie was an amazing person. He lit up any room he walked into. What we loved the very most about Donnie was his genuine love of life. He was so wonderful to be around because he never had anything negative to say. ( I still remember the big hugs he used to give me whenever we returned to the lake in the summer.) We are so very sorry that this wonderful person no longer lights up our world. Please accept our deepest condolences. His spirit lives on in LOW and in our hearts. - Posted by: Colin and Mona Ward (friends) on: Jan 23, 2021
