Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I was shocked and very saddened to hear about Gord's sudden passing. I fondly remember our marathon telephone calls where we covered many topics such as family history, the winter weather in Winnipeg, Conservative versus Liberal politics, how well the Jets were playing, and the benefits or liabilities of the Royal Family. I also remember the times when he would make the long drive to Ontario for visits, which usually included trips to antique markets for additions to his collection of Royal or military memorabilia and the never ending search for the perfect french fry. I offer heartfelt condolences to his family in Manitoba from his cousins in Ontario. - Posted by: Ted Edwins (Cousin) on: Feb 21, 2021

  • Gordie and I were good friends. We met on the midnight shift and always shared a laugh or two. Gord lived in the same home his whole life. A confirmed bachelor, he was totally dedicated to his late mother. His father passed early in his life and he saw how hard his mom had to work to provide for the both of them. His life was lived the way he wanted and his interests were many. Architecture, photography, Montreal Canadiens, the Jets, classical music, book collecting, art, films and of course his flower gardens and yard (of which he was very proud). He had a keen interest in the Royal Family, collecting so many quality items in crystal and china to celebrate them that he had to sneak them in the house past his mom! He even travelled to England to see the sites and loved all the gardens and history and pageantry . I could go on and I would never finish, talking about my friend. He was a gentle soul and I will miss him. Ted Turczak - Posted by: Ted Turczak (friend) on: Feb 04, 2021
