ROY RAYMOND WARGA
March 23, 1925 - January 20, 2021
In January of 1944, Roy joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and his mathematical skills served him well as he trained to be a navigator/bombardier on a wooden airplane called a Mosquito. Roy completed his training and was sent home to await assignment when the war ended. Roy was honourably released from service in 1945. Training in these noisy aircraft would affect Roy's hearing in his later years.
Roy married Anne in 1952 and they had two children, Lesley and John. They enjoyed many summers at his brother's cabin on Falcon Lake and then later at the cabin at Belair. Family was important to Roy and so was hard work. Roy taught himself to fix and build anything, helping family and friends with projects, and spending many enjoyable hours in the garage working on cars.
Roy's work life started with Motor Coach Industries and this work prompted him to enroll at Success Business College to become an accountant. Roy worked for CNR and then for Manitoba Dairy and finally with Dominion Soudack Fur Auctions. Roy retired in 1982 and he and Anne enjoyed 19 years of being snowbirds travelling to Mesa, Arizona during the winters. Roy made friends with everyone he met.
Roy leaves behind Anne, his wife of 68 years; daughter Lesley and son John (Annette). Roy was predeceased by his sisters, Sophie and Kay, and is survived by his youngest brother Alex Warga and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to thank Kim Hudson of Concordia Hospital's Geriatric Program, Right at Home for caring for Roy during his final week and the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital for making Roy's last days so comfortable.

Anne, Leslie and John, so sorry to hear of the loss of your husband and father. It’s been a long time since we were neighbours, but have such fond memories growing up alongside all of you.
