Condolences & Memories (35 entries)

  • Shain has been the master of my hair for 18 years. He was an amazing hair dresser and a dear friend. My condolences to Shain’s friends and family. He has a big heart and I know he will be missed by so many. - Posted by: Kathryn (Client) on: Oct 21, 2021

  • Shain My Friend. I am so sad to hear you are no longer here with us. I will miss you immensely. Shain, you were a joy to be around. A funny, kind, loving, loyal person. A dark sense of humour but beneath it all, your heart is pure and those who were lucky enough to know you were blessed by your spirit. You were amazingly attentive to your work and clients. You cared. I’m so glad to have been your friend for the last twenty years. It has been a privilege to have you in my life and connect with you as my dear and loyal friend. We first met at a salon in Vancouver. You welcomed me to the team and were so kind to take me under your wing. Teaching me with kindness. After you went back home to Winnipeg, I hunted you down and the rest is history. So glad we reconnected and had many memories both in Winnipeg and here in Vancouver. I will miss our visits and our run around town for Korean food and good food in general. Eating in a Korean restaurant will not be the same without you my friend. Shain, I hope you are in peace and loving life on the other side. They are lucky to have you. I wish you only unconditional love and joy. You deserve it. I love you and miss you. - Posted by: Jenni Park (Friend ) on: Mar 01, 2021

  • Shain was larger than life, figuratvely and literally! He was my little brother and partner in crime when we were kids. When he was little our Dalmatian Yuro was his buddy and they would have races to the couch and eat lemons together! I was very proud of him when he obtained his cosmetology licence.. I spent my days off getting "practiced on". He was worried that he was not making the right decision. Almost 30 yrs later it would appear it was his destiny. Shain's life was proof that our presence on earth affects everyone we interact with. We do not operate in a vacuum. Be the best part of someone's day. Rest in peace Shain. - Posted by: Aynsley Brown (Sister) on: Feb 15, 2021

  • Shain I am crushed that you are gone. I will forever miss your big bear hugs. Love you so much. - Posted by: Debbie Watts (Friend) on: Feb 13, 2021

  • Shain I was shocked when I heard of your passing. You were always full of amazing stories and made me feel so comfortable which is why I continued to see you as my hairdresser. You truly had this way with people. I remember when you told me "you never cut long hair" and I totally agree with you. Thanks for the talks and cuts. See you on the other side. Michelle Turcotte. - Posted by: Michelle (Client) on: Feb 12, 2021

  • Oh Shain. I was gutted and in so much shock when I heard of your passing. No matter which shop I was at, Meta or MSTC, I was soooo excited for your appointments and I knew it was going to be a great day full of laughs. You always had treats to share. Robins eggs! Yum. There was so many funny videos and memes that you me and Niki would laugh at and say NOPE to. Hahaha. You came, donated to, and celebrated with me at my wedding social. Just an incredible guy. Love you and miss you Shain! - Posted by: Andrea Munster (Friend) on: Feb 09, 2021

  • So shocked to hear this news. I met you in 2005 I think? At 42nd street Hair Salon on Corydon- my first professional hair stylist! You never failed to give me the coolest hair on the block! I loved eating sushi with you while my hair was processing- talking crap about who knows what. We followed each other as we moved/ worked at different shops/salons, you were always getting tattooed at the current shop I was working at. I remember when I first got my chihuahua Dharma, you let me bring her to my hair appt! Dharma will be 10 this June. I moved away from Winnipeg 8 years ago now- but you’ve continued to do my moms hair and I know you are one of her favorite people. To this day I STILL use the round brush, Denman brush and teasing comb you got for me 10+ years ago. Your energy always filled the room. You will be greatly missed Shain- Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Niki Wenger (Friend/client ) on: Feb 09, 2021

  • I miss you Shain. You were one of my favourite people ever! I started out as a client referred to by my daughter and looked so forward to my appointments. We shared the best stories and recipes and always a great hearty laugh. Shain became my friend and I was able to have him as a client of mine when I sold him his house. Thank you for trusting me Shain. I believe you are in a good place and I hope we meet again! Rest in full peace my friend. Carla - Posted by: Carla Wenger (Client and Friend) on: Feb 09, 2021

  • My biggest heart felt condolences to all of Shain’s family and his beautiful fur baby. My last memory was a few months back we FaceTimed and talked and laughed and talked about old times about gardening about life and caught up until our phones died and sweared to do it again soon... So immensely heart breaking... I know everyone would agree that no one had a better sense of humour and laugh, the head toss back and the most beautiful full body laughter that would fill any room... One of those genuine smiles and laughs that is so contagious. ❤️ So immensely heart breaking... You taught me so so very much and I am forever grateful. - Posted by: Laura Lee (Friends ) on: Feb 04, 2021

  • I loved hanging with you Shain, talking’ shop and exchanging business knowledge. Our sessions were full of laughs and truth - I love your fierce energy, dedication to health, you direct way of being. It’s a shock that you are gone Shain- I wish for your family all the love and support you will need losing a beautiful man like Shain. - Posted by: Nadine Mitchell (Tattoo artist/friend) on: Feb 02, 2021

  • Geez Shain, really tough to lose you. Like any good hairdresser, a good listener, storyteller and truthteller. Even though my hair was getting a bit slower growing, loved just to come in for the scalp massage and shoot the breeze about whatever. We talked a lot about your old cat, new dog, new house and issues with home ownership, and about life's hardships that we have to roll with in terms of who we are, where we come from and what cards we are dealt, good and bad. Sucks to lose you, Shain, and condolences to friends, family and any one else that loved you. Duncan (3 Beers) (Client) - Posted by: Duncan Wain (Client) on: Feb 01, 2021

  • Shain.. from the moment I met you in 1999 when you did my grade 12 grad up-do, until the very last of our days together recently at work, you made a huge impression in my life... and that will last forever. Thank you for welcoming me with open arms, and for sharing pieces of your life with me. I already miss your larger than life presence, our many “doorway” chats, and scaring the heck out of each other in the basement! Keep on rockin’ in the free world my dear friend! xoxo - Posted by: Kristy Santangelo (Friend/Coworker ) on: Jan 31, 2021

  • Shain was an amazing person, and a talented hairdresser. Anyone who knew Shain & had him in their lives was truly blessed. Those who didn’t missed out on knowing a truly great, funny, talented human being. I will miss his corny jokes & his larger than life personality, but I am grateful to have known a person as good & kind as he was. - Posted by: Colleen (Friend) on: Jan 29, 2021

  • Dear Ian, Emma, Aynsley and families. How we will all miss a loving, engaging, funny young man, who we lost all too early. Shain had such a dry sense of humour, that he shared with us over the years. And Shain gave the best darn smiles and bear hugs anywhere. Our condolences go out to you all. Thinking of everyone with love. Paula and Lindsey and Family - Posted by: Paula Fuller and Lindsey Fuller (Friends) on: Jan 29, 2021

  • We just heard today (Jan 28)! We have known Shain since the late 90’s. He gave great hairstyles to many members of our family. We always looked forward to seeing him, and talking about movies, travel and, of course, his and our animals! We have lost an important part of our lives. We’ll miss you Shain. - Posted by: Doug & Sowmya (Clients and friends) on: Jan 28, 2021

  • I was truly heartbroken when I heard of Shain's passing. I could not believe that I would never see and talk to him again. He was so full of life and passion that you could not help but be drawn to him. When he was creating amazing looks for me we would discuss our lives, our pets, politics you name it! I have been his client and friend for over 20 years and the world has truly lost a beautiful person. Rest in peace my friend. • My daughter and I met Shain about 20 years ago as clients and he has been doing our hair ever since. He was more than our hairdresser. He became a friend and we shared so many stories of our lives. Shain always had a new joke to tell or a new movie to talk about. We discussed pets and holidays and love lives and became very comfortable with each other. He will be missed more than words can express. To all of his family members, co-workers and friends, I send condolences from both my daughter and myself. Shain - you will be missed. - Posted by: Elaine Garrett (friend, client) on: Jan 27, 2021
