EVANS: Cory Malcolm Evans. It is with great sadness and terrible pain that we announce Cory, aged 68, passed away on January 15, 2021. Cory passed peacefully with his wife, Doris by his bedside. Cory is survived by his wife, Doris, children, Nancy (Bill), and Jordan (Margaret), brothers, Garry (Pat), Murray (Lei Anne), extended family and great friends. Cory grew up in Brandon, MB and moved to Winnipeg in 1973, where he met the love of his life and began his career as a hair stylist. After starting a family, Cory's desire for a bigger yard for their family of four led them to move in 1984 to Ferndale, their almost forever home. Summers were spent playing family games of catch, frisbee and badminton. Winters drew them to the river, minutes away, for tobogganing and ice skating. Cory was a devoted father and loving husband and almost all his hobbies included the whole family. Though he cherished his years of building bonds with clients while clipping and styling hair, Cory spoke fondly of his second career with the maintenance team at St. Charles Country Club. He was often seen on all fours, meticulously scouring the bunker for any inconsistencies. This led to Cory being affectionately nick named, C-Dog. After 34 years on Ferndale, Cory and Doris adopted the country life, moving to Ste. Anne, just minutes from his daughter, son-in-law, and step grandchildren, Michael and Calvin. Without an indoor woodstove, preparing for, building and tending to outdoor bonfires quickly became his favorite pastime. His son and daughter-in-law kept their camper close by and spent weekends at a time throughout the spring, summer and fall. In his final year, he met so many new friends and spent so many hours with family. Even though all hoped it was the first of many, the family remains incredibly grateful for the time spent together. Cory cherished his wife and children beyond measure and was overjoyed in welcoming Bill and Margaret into the family. The other love of his life was Charlie, his beloved rescue dog. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Expressions of condolence for Cory can be made at richardrosin.ca In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society or your favorite pet rescue organization.
