JANINA PLOSKI
June 16, 1933 January 31, 2021
Janina is survived by her children, Raymond and Wendy (daughter-in-law), Richard, and Daniel. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Amanda, Ryan, and Melissa. She also leaves behind many relatives back in England. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings.
Mom was born in Poland, and through the Second World War was taken to Siberia as a little girl with her family and then to Africa to live in war refugee camps. After the war, she ended up in England where she got married. From there Mom immigrated to Canada and arrived in Winnipeg in 1956 where she lived the rest of her life. She was very much involved in Holy Ghost Church, Catholic Women's League (twice president), Polish Combatants Association (SPK), Polish Girl Guides as a leader, and the Polish Choir. Mom also worked at the Winnipeg Convention Centre for 25+ years.
We are thankful to all the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Seven Oaks and Grace Hospitals and St. Josephs Residence. They always enjoyed caring for her as she always had a sunny disposition.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to CancerCare Manitoba.
A private interment will be held.
We will miss you Babcia very much.

Sad to hear of your Moms passing. She was a good friend to my mom as well. They both were active members of the church. From folklorama to the CWL, spring cleaning in the church and the choir. I remember taking her home from church quite a few times, sometimes with my mom on Sundays and quite a few times on Saturday evening masses. Take care. My condolences to the family, especially Wendy (we worked together at X-ray). I know Jasia from our church. When I was CWL president, Jasia was my #1assistant, going shopping together or organizing for the events. I always liked to listen to her life story; which started in Poland. On February 10,1940 the whole family was taken to Siberia. It was very cold there and she remembers being hungry. She said that --" being hungry stays with the person for life, it never goes away"! When they were liberated, her life journey continued on thru Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, India, Uganda, England and finally to Canada to have a better life. Jasia said -- she remembers that ---" GOD was with her thru this journey every day". She never missed the CWL event or the Church service; she didn't drive but she always found the way to get there. Jasia, Rest in Peace and may God continue to be with you on your next journey. Maria, CWL - Posted by: Maria (Friend) on: Feb 06, 2021
