Marie Koenighofer of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at the age of 85 years.
Marie was born in Camp Morton, on the family farm, living and working on the family farm. Marie went to school in Camp Morton, then attended high school in Gimli, and went to the University of Manitoba.
Marie eventually settled in Calgary, AB, where she lived, worked, and met Ernest. She was married at 25 years old to Ernest, who was 28 years at the time, on September 6, 1961. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. A few years later, Marie stayed home as a homemaker to raise their two children, Lyla and Nicky.
Marie worked a few part-time jobs throughout the years. She thoroughly enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, needle stitch, and other crafts. Gardening was a favourite pastime, as well as music, reading, and crosswords. There was always an abundance of flowers and vegetables in her garden.
Besides her loving husband Ernest, Marie is survived by her one daughter, Lyla Gushulak of New Bothwell, MB, and two grandsons, Justin Gushulak of New Bothwell, MB , and Cody Gushulak of Winnipeg, MB. Marie is also survived by one brother David Petrynchyn (Judy), of Sudbury, ON, and many other friends, relatives, and neighbours. She was predeceased by her parents, Sophie and Nick Petrynchyn, one sister Jeannie (Gilbert) Lutes, and one son Nicky Koenighofer.
