DARYL LOZENSKI

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Daryl (Lizard) Lozenski on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. After treatments in Winnipeg, Daryl requested a transfer to Thunder Bay to be with his brother and family in his final days.
Daryl was born on April 24, 1954 in Kenora, raised in Thunder Bay and later moved to Winnipeg with his parents in 1971. As a young man, he enjoyed music, becoming a member of the band "Eros" with whom he played bass guitar. Pictures of "Eros" can be found in the Manitoba Music Museum or on their website. He was employed with the City of Winnipeg and enjoyed his job keeping Winnipeg beautiful. Daryl also enjoyed working in his yard ensuring the birds were fed and the squirrels had plenty of peanuts. Daryl was devoted to family. He never missed a birthday or special occasion - his birthday cards and Christmas cards were always the first that family received by mail. He never missed a soccer game when his great-niece and nephew came to Winnipeg. He thoughtfully prepared weekly emails filled with humourous memes and jokes to keep everyone's spirits up during the pandemic. His nieces will miss his regular phone calls inquiring about the latest food and health trends in his quests to ensure he was making healthy choices. His subsequent trips to Costco assured us that he was serious in his efforts.
Survived and lovingly remembered by his lifelong friend Julie Johnson, brother Terry (Corinne), nieces, Trina (Paul) and Cara (Steve), Jasmine, nephew Tyler and their mother Enza, great-nephews, Will and Brayden, great-niece Zoesha, cousins, Randy, Karen (Paul) and Kathy in Kenora, and many friends, extended family and co-workers in Winnipeg. Predeceased by his parents, Winnie and Carl Lozenski, brother Greg, grandparents, Tatiana and Joseph Lozenski, Uncle Stan and Aunt Carol Lozenski.
Our thanks to Dr. Migay, Dr. Davis and the wonderful 4 North Team at St. Joseph's Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Daryl in his final days. We are forever grateful to his health care team at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg for their kind guidance and assistance in Daryl's transfer to Thunder Bay. Thanks also to his good friends, Glen, Brenda, Peter, Tammy, Keith and Ken who tended things at home; and to friends and co-workers who kept his spirits up with phone chats when he was so far from home.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in Kenora at a later date.
If friends so desire, donations to CancerCare Manitoba or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

  • Uncle Darryl used to tell me that there was fish in the toilet and I had to be careful, otherwise they would bite my tush. I still think about that to this day 😂 he also used to order Sardines on our Pizza for a funny joke, and Tyler and I would complain how salty it was, he would laugh and tell us what he had done. Always joked and was laughing. Will be missed. Xoxo. - Posted by: Jasmine Lozenski (Niece) on: Mar 08, 2021

  • It was the summer of 1977 when I met the love of my life (my mom didn’t approve) Daryl’s little Bro Gregory. Daryl always invited us 2 his jams on McMillan OMG That was the highlight of our early teens‼️ The band always made us feel welcomed & treated us with respect even though we were punks 😂 So much talent & fun 🥰 Jasmine & Tyler always enjoyed his company. My kids called him Uncle Doe Doe cause they couldn’t pronounce his name Lol 💋 - Posted by: Enza (Sister-in-law) on: Mar 07, 2021
