Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBOND: Louise (nee Garnett) passed away peacefully with family present on Monday, March 1, 2021 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, following a stroke. Louise was born in Russell on June 25, 1926 to Thomas and Mary Annie (nee Allbright) Garnett. She grew up on a farm just outside of Shellmouth, MB with her four brothers and two sisters. Teaching was Louise's main ambition. In 1944-46, following High School at Russell Collegiate, she taught at Plumas, MB on a Teachers' Permit. In 1946, she went to Winnipeg and attended Normal School, where many of the young ladies became life-long friends. She then taught in Bradwardine and Kenton, during which time she met and dated Lloyd Bond. They were married on June 30, 1951 and raised their four children on Hillview farm in the Shiloh District. Louise was predeceased by the love of her life, Lloyd, on December 4, 1990; her son Jack, on March 24, 2019; and her great-grandson Adrian, on March 16, 2014. Lloyd and Louise travelled throughout Canada, western USA and had a special trip to New Zealand in 1980. They loved dancing and with good friends they drove miles to share this favourite pastime. Following Dad's passing, Mom enjoyed visiting friends and also taking many of them on drives around the countryside in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. She continued with trips to Nepal, India, Costa Rica and several countries in Europe with friends Marion Murray or Helen McGregor. Louise was a keen reader and also produced wonderful creations of knitting, crocheting, tatting and sewing. During the last year, she took on a new interest, as she 'discovered' her iPhone. Louise leaves to cherish her memory: daughter Heather of Winnipeg and two sons: Garnet (Bev) of Portage la Prairie and Edward (Brenda) of Moosomin, SK. She had lots of fun with her grandchildren: Jason, Kimberly, Christopher, Shannon, Darra and Andrew; four great-grandchildren: Cassandra, Emilyn, Robyn and Nolan, complete the family. She is also survived by her sister Joan Garnett of Wakefield, Quebec and sister-in-law Erna Garnett of Winnipeg, as well as many nephews and nieces. Interment will be at Shiloh Cemetery in the summertime. Depending on Covid restrictions, we would like family and friends to join us for a graveside service. Notice of this event will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Louise may be made to Special Olympics of Manitoba, 304-145 Pacific Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2Z6 or a charity of your choice.
