SWANSON: Kathleen Alberta Swanson (nee Dennis), May 3, 1936 March 23, 2021. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves to mourn Charlie, her husband of almost 62 years; daughter Janine; son-in-law Ron; grandchildren Alex and Riley; son Glen; daughter-in-law Michele; sister-in-law Mona; brother-in-law Millen; nieces and nephews Dennis, Amy, Janice, Garth, Irma, Don, Donna, Bruce, Joy, Keith, Herb, Edna, Larry, Dallas, Lynne, Daryl, Karen, Lori, and Kyle. Kathleen is predeceased by her parents Bayfield and Lexie Dennis; sisters Mildred and Florence; brothers-in-law Cecil, Earl and Geordie; niece Muriel and nephew Lindsay. Kathleen was born in Neepawa and was raised near Brookdale. After graduating from Normal school, she taught in Austin and Carberry. Kathleen and Charlie were married in 1959 and farmed at Brookdale until 1986 when Charlie's position with Manitoba Pool Elevators took them to Winnipeg. Kathleen began playing piano and organ at a young age and later taught music lessons. A church organist for most of her life, she played for countless weddings and funerals throughout southern Manitoba. She served as a school trustee for Beautiful Plains School Division for 8 years. Kathleen volunteered for the UCW, Canadian Red Cross and many others. Kathleen was very involved in the family farm which included operating the combine to keep harvest on track when Charlie was working in Winnipeg. (She preferred the combine, sending Charlie to the grain truck as the comforts of the combine included air conditioning and less dust.) Special thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff at Grace Hospital. Due to Covid-19, a private service will be held. Donations to Doctors Without Borders in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated.

Kathleen was an amazingly lovely lady. She gifted me beautiful lilies at my bridal shower, and I’m very glad that I will have a little bit of her always growing in my garden. My love to Uncle Charlie, Janine, Ron, Glen, Michele, Alex and Riley. - Posted by: Deanna Butcher (Great niece ) on: Mar 30, 2021
