SHIRLEY ANNE PIERSON
(nee BOSC)
1937 - 2021

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved grandma, wife, mother, sister and aunt, Shirley Pierson, on April 29, 2021, in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 84. Shirley passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre in the wee hours of the morning on April 29, after an exhausting but short battle with cancer.
Left to cherish Shirley's memory are her husband of 67 years, Albert, two sons, Jamie and Len (Laurie), two grandchildren, Tiffannie and Cody (Lisa), siblings, nieces, nephews and family friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Marie and Albert, and sister Claudette.
A true matriarch, anyone was accepted at the table and nobody ever left hungry. She had so much love to give and share with everyone around. Especially her two grandchildren, who she babysat through adolescence, watched grow into adults and become two of her greatest accomplishments in life.
Having travelled many times with her two sons for lacrosse tournaments across Canada, to visit her brother Jim (El) in Vancouver or going with her husband Abe across the border to the U.S.A. They would often head south for warmer weather and to listen to some great country music (ending up in Nashville, Tennessee seven years in a row. Where the Grand Ole Opry was a definite stop on the list). Shirley loved to travel in her younger years.
She had a kind heart and warm soul and made everyone feel like family. Shirley was a caring and compassionate person as well as a great listener. Always there to lend an ear or a shoulder to family and friends. We are happy to say that she was herself until her last days. We will miss Shirley especially at family celebrations, where she loved to put out a good feast, reminisce about old times and tell us stories about our family history. Family meant everything to Shirley and we will miss her dearly.
Thank you to the staff of Riverview Health Centre where Shirley spent the last month of her life, having access to great health care.
There will be a small Celebration of Life determined at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Riverview Health Centre.

Your memory lives on forever in our hearts, may you now rest in peace.
Until we meet again.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • My condolences to Shirley's family. I lived in the same neighbourhood as the Bosc sisters and was good friends with Margaret, the youngest. We lost touch when we moved but reconnected when we moved to Windsor Park and found they were just blocks away. Marie, Shirley's mother, was a lovely lady and my Mum was so glad to see her again. I was glad to see Margaret again and I went to her wedding. We lost touch after she moved west but reconnected again when she moved back with her son. I moved west too and totally lost touch with the family. When Claudette passed, I contacted her friend mentioned in her obituary and asked him to ask Margaret to call. I'd love to hear from her again. - Posted by: Rae (Poole) Reid (Family friend) on: May 08, 2021
