Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMPSON: Marie Thompson passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021, leaving an everlasting impact on all who knew her. Her unconditional love, compassion and incredible kindness along with her unwavering strength will be her legacy. Although it is hard to lose Mom, her life journey taught us so much and we are grateful for the valuable lessons she taught us. Marie was born on May 17, 1934 to Louis and Mary Drosky, the youngest of six children. She grew up in Yorkton, SK, where she met the love of her life, Harry and they married on August 2, 1954. They began their life in Melita, MB, where she began a career as a telephone operator until they started their family. Together they would raise their four children, Raelene, Kimberly, Terry and Mark. In 1965, together they built the Melita Motel by the River and operated this business until 1996. They stood beside each other through thick and thin, providing each other with unwavering love and support. In 1996, after Harry's passing, Marie moved to Brandon, MB. She enjoyed many years living at Village Green and most recently at Rotary Villa where she made many wonderful friends. Marie loved spending time with her family which included traveling to many beautiful places. Thank you to all the thoughtful medical and A3 palliative care providers who cared for Mom and our family so kindly throughout this journey. Thank you to friends and family who reached out to help and support our family, we are truly grateful. Marie was predeceased by her loving husband, Harry, daughter Kimberly and son Mark. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters Raelene and Terry, son-in-law Murray and her treasured granddaughter, Paige Marie. Also, her nieces Rene (Rick) Butler, Dawn and her son Michael McBay; sister and brother-in-law Wayne and Marilyn Downey and her many nieces and nephews. Marie was laid to rest during a private family graveside service at the Melita Cemetery, Melita, MB on Thursday, June 17, 2021. A celebration of Marie's life will take place at a later date.
