SING FAT: Concepcion "Conchita" "Conchy" (nee Castro), age 80 years, beloved wife of Andre, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021. She leaves behind her loving husband of 55 years Andre, sons Andrew (Michelle) and Gerard "Gerry" (Khristine), seven grandchildren Crystal (Andrew), Logan, Austin, Zhenaya, Eric, Brodie and Jaydyn, whom she dearly loved, and one great grandchild Rosalie, along with many extended relatives located all over the world. Concepcion was born in Calicia, Spain. After high school, she obtained a Diploma in Fashion Design and worked at a Woolen Fashion Design company in Spain until she left for England in 1962. In England, while completing the S.E.A.N (equivalent of Canadian L.P.N.) program, she met Andre who was a student of psychiatric nursing. Upon the completion of her program, she worked at Park Pewett Hospital, Basingstoke, Hampshire and at Kingston General Hospital, Kingston-Upon-Thames, Surrey, England. Concepcion and Andre got married in Kingston-Upon-Thames, where she also gave birth to Andrew. In 1968, Conchita, Andre and son Andrew immigrated to Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, where Gerard was born. When Andrew and Gerard both began full time schooling, Conchita took up a position as a seamstress at Narvey's Men's Clothing until her retirement in 2001. Once retired, she went on numerous holidays to Mauritius and took trips to Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto first by car, then in the motor home with her husband. She also enjoyed camping at the lake with sons Andrew and Gerry and grandchildren, making memories boating and canoeing on the lake. Together with her husband, Concepcion enjoyed travelling in the family motor home visiting relatives and friends in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Victoria and visiting various parts of Canada and the USA. At the cottage, she loved bird watching, sometimes with friends and enjoyed evening walks with her husband, grandchildren and Chico, her inseparable French poodle. Above all else, she really enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren. A private family graveside service will be held at the Brandon Cemetery. The service will be recorded. Donations in memory of Concepcion may be made to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200 – 17th Street East, Brandon, MB R7A 7M6, the Lupus Society of Manitoba, 100-105 Fort White Way, Oak Bluff, MB R4G 0B1 or to a charity of your choice.
