BROWN: Lyall James Brown, age 87 years, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, July 26, 2021. Lyall was born in Rossburn, Manitoba on March 20, 1934, the eldest of nine children. He grew up on a farm at Vista, Manitoba attending Islay School before moving to Chater, Manitoba in 1957, where he had bought a dairy farm. In 1961, he married Gert Elstow and had 2 daughters, Heather and Carla. Lyall and Gert worked hard on building their farm by adding a new house, barn, hay sheds, machine sheds and herd of dairy cows. Lyall was involved with 4-H, in his younger years and then when his daughters became members. Besides being a RM Councillor, Lyall was involved with the church – from mowing lawns to serving on the church board. Lyall will be lovingly remembered by his wife Gert, daughters Heather (Larry) Fast, and Carla (Art) Penner, his pride and joy, grandkids Nolan and Randi. He will also be missed by his siblings: Ken (Pat), Georgina Woychyshyn, Annabell Hodgins, Melville (Chris Ann), Joy Osman, Ray (Bev) and Marilyn (Glen) Gurr and all their families. Lyall was predeceased by his parents Sam and Lena Brown and brother Elgin. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m at the Brandon Cemetery. The family invites you to view the Celebration of Lyall's Life – a link will appear approximately 5 minutes prior to the service on Lyall's memorial page at Pallbearers will be Art Penner, Nolan Penner, Scott Gurr, Bob McKay, Dan Charles, and Marv Gebauer.
