With family by her side, Darlene Elizabeth Sim passed away peacefully at the Hamiota Personal Care Home August 5th, 2021, at the age of 78. She is survived by her loving husband Barrie Sim, son Dean (Shirley) Sim, grandchildren Tammy and Christine Sim; siblings: Joyce (Bud), Bev, Murray (Gail), Dallas. As well as many nephews, great nephews and nieces and close family friend Diane Johns. She was predeceased by her sons David and Richard (Rick) Sim, and her parents Elmer and Helen Johns. Darlene was born November 3, 1941, in Shoal Lake, Manitoba, she later married Barrie Sim on November 7, 1959, they farmed in Hamiota their first few years together, during this time they had 3 sons. They then moved to Thompson, Manitoba in August 1968, where she worked for the Hudson Bay Company and Westwood Dental Clinic. They later retired and moved back to Hamiota, Manitoba. Darlene enjoyed passing time by playing golf, curling, and visiting with family and friends. The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to the staff at Birch Lodge Personal Care Home in Hamiota, Manitoba for their kindness and care over the past few years. A graveside funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. from the Hamiota Cemetery, Hamiota, Manitoba. Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers donations can be made in Darlene's memory to Cancer Care Manitoba.

Barry: We were saddened to read of Darlene's passing in the Brandon Sun today. We have many fond memories of our visits to Hamiota and Thompson and the good times we had together.
