CORNISH: Morley. Dec. 7, 1945 – Aug. 15, 2021. It is with great love and sadness that we share the death of Morley Cornish of Rapid City, on August 15, 2021 at the Minnedosa Hospital at the age of 75 with Faye and Amanda at his side. Morley was raised and lived on the family farm South of Rapid City, until 1970 when he married Faye and they moved into their new home in Rapid City. In 1982 they welcomed their only daughter Amanda. In his younger years Morley worked off the farm, but his passion was always farming. Until recently he could be found at the farm working in the shop or planning next years harvest with Darcy. Morley enjoyed many ski trips out west with the ski whiz group. He could be found every winter at the skating rink making ice and watching Amanda figure skate. Participating in the annual Journey for Sight snowmobile ride from Flin Flon to Brandon was something he looked forward to every year. Grooming the snowmobile trail for the Valleyview Sno-Riders was another thing he really enjoyed. Morley and his brother-in-law Ron spent many hours in the original construction of the Rapid City Co-op. Being an active member of the Rapid City Fire Department for 44 years was something Morley was proud of, he retired as Fire Chief on December 31, 2020. If the pager went off you could guarantee Morley would be there. Morley was predeceased by his parents Victor and Rena Cornish; father and mother-in-law Jim and Joan Burnell; brothers-in-law Keith Chapman and Howard Bettle. Left to cherish memories are his wife of 51 years Faye; daughter Amanda and grand-dog Chloe; sisters Jean Chapman and Shirley Bettle; brother-in-law Ron Burnell (Faye); nieces and nephews; Judy Esplin (Greg), Sharon Garbutt (Pete), Ken Chapman (Wendy), Jeff Bettle, Garry Bettle (Jetta) and families; as well as special friends Darcy, Shannon, Logan and Kirk Bayes. At Morley's request no service will take place. Donations in Morley's memory can be made to the Rapid City Fire Department, Box 10, Rapid City, MB R0K 1W0. Faye and Amanda would like to thank the Paramedics and the staff of Minnedosa Hospital for their care and kindness during Morley's time there.

You can shed tears
because they are gone,
or you can smile
because they lived.
You can close your eyes and pray they will come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all that
they left for you.
Your heart can be empty
because you can't see them,
or you can be full of
love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy
for tomorrow because
of yesterday.
You can remember only
that they are gone,
or you can cherish their memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind and feel empty,
or you can do what
they would want.
Smile, open your heart, Love…and go on.
