PARKOLUB: It is with great sadness that the family announce the sudden passing of Gloria Parkolub at 83 years with family by her side on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Dinsdale Personal Care Home. Born and raised in Brandon, Manitoba, Gloria was the daughter of the late Herbert and Jessie Tame. Gloria met the love of her life, a young man named Paul Parkolub and they wed on May 14, 1960. Gloria was a homemaker, a secretary, and a Grounds Supervisor for over 25 years at Meadows School. Mom was a true caretaker (of family) and animals (furry family) and loyally volunteered at the Brandon Humane Society when she was physically able. Additionally, Mom was a cherished cook and loved preparing large dinners for special family gatherings. Gloria is survived by daughter Leslee (Rob) Lavin and cherished granddaughter Alyssa, all of Brandon. Gloria is the last surviving member of her immediate family but is survived by her sisters-in-law, Stella Sturko of Brandon, Manitoba, and Olga Bass of British Columbia. Besides both parents, Gloria was predeceased by the love of her life Paul Parkolub in 2019, her best friend and twin sister Gayle MacKay in 2013, two infant children Terri-Lynn and Perry, all of Brandon, Manitoba. The family would like to send a heartfelt 'Thank You' to the staff at Dinsdale for the exceptional care and comfort that Mom received during her stay since 2015 – we will miss personal visits watching Mom and the staff interacting and often, sharing a good joke or two. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Joanne Maier for the compassionate care over the past several years. The family is holding a private graveside service and Celebration of Gloria's Life with Chaplain Tunji Olasunkanmi of the Salvation Army officiating. Donations in memory of Gloria may be made to the Brandon Humane Society, 22OO - 17th Street East, Brandon, MB R7A 7M6. Expressions of sympathy may be made at

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I remember Gloria (and Paul) as she worked with my Father, Terry as his secretary in the 60's(?) She was such friendly and a pleasant person. The haircuts at Paul's shop were also very pleasant occasions. Sincere condolences to the entire family. - Posted by: Laurie Penton (Friend) on: Sep 16, 2021
