THOMSON: Donald Stewart Thomson passed away peacefully at Fairview Personal Care Home on Friday, September 3, 2021 at the age of 100 years. Don was born at the family farm in the Lily district in Manitoba on December 19, 1920 and was the son of the late Charles and Eva Thomson. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Evelyn, brothers Bob, Bruce, John, Gordon and Lloyd and sisters Isobel, Shirley, Margaret and Inez. Don will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Susan and Carol; three grandsons, Chad, Trevor and Brett and four great-grandchildren. Don is also survived by his sister-in-law Marjorie and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was proud to service his country for five years during the Second World War as a member of the 4th Canadian Field Regiment, 2nd Division. After the war, Don returned to Brandon and married the love of his life Evelyn on July 24, 1946. Don worked at a variety of positions over his long life: Christies School Supply, Kullbergs, Brandon Packers, Fairview Home and the City of Brandon. His main passions were his family and his faith. Over the years he served First Presbyterian Church in many capacities: Cub Leader for 20 years, Sunday School teacher for 50 years, Clerk of Session for 35 years and a member of Session for 50 years. Don was awarded the title of Elder Emeritus from the Presbyterian Church. He was a loving and humble husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. The family would like to offer our sincere gratitude to all the amazing health care professionals at Fairview Personal Care Home who cared for Don. He is now at peace and with the Lord. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fairview Personal Care Home Foundation, 1351 13th Street, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 4S6 or to First Presbyterian Church, 339 12th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 4M3. A graveside service was held at the Brandon Cemetery on Thursday, September 9, 2021.
