Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCARLSON: Beverlee Anne Carlson (nee Rennick). With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mom on August 13, 2021 at Valleyview Personal Care Home in Brandon with her family by her side after a lengthy battle with Dementia. Mom was born in Brandon, MB on May 8, 1941 to Jack and Elva Rennick. She was their only child. Mom married Hans Gustav Carlson (Dad) in 1958 when Mom was very young. They had three daughters. Mom told me that she was glad that she had her family young. She said she had always wanted to be a wife and mother. As us girls got older Mom ventured into the workforce. She worked for many years at Stitt's Drug Store in Dauphin and had many good laughs and great memories there. When that company changed hands, Mom got a great opportunity to work for the Dauphin Ochre School Division as an Attendance Officer!! She worked there until she retired and absolutely loved it! She was nervous and scared to take on a role like this but was very successful in her position. She especially loved working with the very challenging cases. This is an amazing accomplishment given I'm not sure if she finished High School. Had her life taken a different path I'm sure she would've had a career working in Social Work in some way. She made so many great friends from the Schools/her work and really enjoyed their Friday Happy Hours at Smitty's in Dauphin!!! In 1984, we moved to Gilbert Plains when Mom and Dad bought a house/acreage. We all commuted to/from Dauphin for work/school. Eventually connections were made in Gilbert Plains and Mom made many great friends out there too. We were so thankful for their friendship and support especially after Dad passed away. Mom got involved in golfing out there, the Red Hat Lady club (no red hat though! lol), playing darts, happy hour at the Legion, sick and visiting at the Personal Care Home. Mom was a very active lady and enjoyed walking to get the mail in Gilbert as well in all seasons with her pink snowsuit!! Mom, like Dad, loved music although she wasn't a musician, but she was good at "playing her t-shirt" though! She loved Merle Haggard, her favorite and her boyfriend for life! She also loved Willie Nelson and got into Blues music later in life. Oh, I forgot her other boyfriend, Rod Stewart!!! Roddie!! Mom loved happy hour and those who know her knew her drink of choice was WINE!!!! All wine was good & better!! Primarily white wine, Chardonnay! That with popcorn for Happy Hour! Mom and Dad were always very young at heart. Mom was goofy and had a great sense of humor! Mom liked to dress and look trendy!!! She loved, loved, loved, clothes, shoes, jewelry! Every closet at the house was full when we moved her to Brandon!! She would say to us, I know I must grow old, but I don't have to grow up! Great words to live by I think Mom! We will remember that for sure as we all age! Mom loved the sun and enjoyed sitting out in the sun in the morning to have her coffee with Dad. They enjoyed a few trips to Cuba, Mexico etc. and to soak up the sun on the beach! We all love you very much Mom and will miss you so very much Mom is predeceased by her parents, and her husband Hans. Mom is survived by her three girls Shannon, Kim (Gerry Brown), Krista (Marc Bellon), and her grandchildren Jeremy, Courtney (James Bowering), Shalyn, Sarah (Travis Fehr), Alysha (Tanner Jones), Justin. Also, great grandchildren, Elise, Hayden, Amari, and Addison. She is also survived by her "sisters" by marriage: Gitta MacKay (Larry), Yvonne Ahlstrom (Eugene) and many beloved nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Mom's life will be held on October 9, 2021 at the Legion in Brandon at 7:00 p.m. Live music is being planned. All musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments and partake in the celebration. In lieu of flowers we would welcome donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.
