SHARON DIANE BESTLAND
(nee RASMUSSEN)
August 16, 1941 - September 17, 2021
Sharon was predeceased by her husband Harlan of 57 years; leaves behind her children, Rodger (Cindy), Allison (Bob), and Johnny (Sarah); grandchildren, Brent (Jennifer), Darren (Laura), Christine (Travis), Whitney, Lauren (Matt), Lexi (Alex), Ellen, Gwen, Ivy and Liza; and great-grandchildren Olivia, Charlotte, and Jaxon.
Sharon will be greatly missed by her three tight-knit sisters, Marj Kendall (Gary), Donna Beaudry (Rene), and Barbara Kaminsky (Brian). She will also be missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Corliss Rosenberg (Jerry), Fay, Cordell (Beverly), Beverly Bossuyt (John), Raymond, Myrna Thompson (Murray), David (Cindy) and Mark (Amie).
Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Johnny and Edna Rasmussen, and brothers-in-law Sinclair Bestland, Milo Bestland and Max Kendall.
Mom was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Dacotah, MB. After high school, she moved to Winnipeg to attend Nurses Training. Shortly after meeting Dad, they were married and Mom moved to the farm in Brunkild.
There were many vacations over the years, but her favourite was the two weeks every summer in Clear Lake. For the past 35 plus years, one could find Sharon in cabin #1 for two weeks in July. The first week was the "Sister Week" and then the second week opened up to the rest of the family. Countless games of scrabble, happy hours and good times were had in Clear Lake.
Mom always looked forward to the annual lefse making day with her sisters, passing on the tradition to her kids and grandkids, making sure nobody strayed from the traditional ways.
Mom and Dad had so many good times and experiences shared together, it seems only fitting to have both of their lives remembered together with a joint service on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bestland Farm, Brunkild with Rev. Kolleen Karlowsky-Clark officiating. All are welcome.
Special thanks to Dr. Brian Sharkey and Dr. Rhys Sharkey for their excellent care through this journey.

I just learned of Sharon’s passing and am so sorry to hear the news. We were classmates and I must say we had a good time! I lost touch when I moved to San Francisco and reunited at reunions. She was such a lovely person. Of course our class was the best!! and we were all very close. We will all never forget each other - Posted by: Dianna Proche Taylor (Nursing classmate and friend ) on: Dec 03, 2021

My condolences to everybody (and I do mean everybody) in Sharon's family. My hopes are that you will all remember her in your own way, I first met her many, many years ago through business dealings that I had with other members of her family. - Posted by: Ted Bailey (Friend) on: Sep 29, 2021

These were a few of the responses I received after notifying our 1962 B Winnipeg General Hospital Nursing classmates of Sharon's death: Sharon was one of my roommates when we first graduated from nursing. She was always positive and upbeat. She had the loveliest laugh and most beautiful smile. Fond memories of her throughout our nursing days and later at our reunions. She and Harlan were such wonderful hosts opening up their home to our classmates. She was a lovely person, with a beautiful smile. Many fond memories from training days and reunions over the years. We will miss her at our reunions - Posted by: Sally Thomas (Winnipeg General Nursing Classmate) on: Sep 27, 2021
