ROYCE RONALD YACKEL
June 30, 1948 - November 3, 2021
character. With a shortened education and charisma, he began his career in sales.
Starting out as a pantyhose salesman, where he coined his famous line, "if you let me help you try on the first pair, the second pair is free". Hard work with a minimum of two hour lunches, he made his way to senior
management in the convenience wholesale
industry.
Management at his top five restaurants have called an emergency meeting to brace for the impact of lost revenue: Rae & Jerry's, Luda's, Red Top, Salisbury House and Lee's on DeVries. Jason, at Gauthier Cadillac, should now see an increase in profits as the negotiations have come to an end.
Royce could not go anywhere without
running into someone that he knew or hearing someone call out "Roycie" from across the room. Royce's true passion was his collection of fast vehicles which began with
snowmobiles, motorcycles and his pride and joy, his 56 Chevy Big Block. With his need for speed we were amazed there was never any Driver's Safety Courses mandated. Be lucky you never ran out of gas when Royce was a passenger, because he wasn't pushing!
Royce stockpiled enough Canadian Tire oil and Blue Thunder windshield washer fluid so that Sharon can now start her own drive through "30 Minute or it's Free" oil change service.
Royce could never survive as a Great White Hunter. He always came home with a lot less ammo, new jokes and an appetite for a home cooked meal including dessert.
His favourite Saturday morning stop was at ACE Auto Electric spending time with his buddies, changing oil in his or his granddaughter's vehicles. If he wasn't changing oil, he was giving his two cents about how the business should be run. But regardless of why he was there, the visits always ended with lunch.
Royce's laughter, smile and wit will be cherished in the hearts of Ryan and Keri,
Andrea and Tom; granddaughters, Emily,
Sarah, Kara, and Cailin; along with Cooper, Gracie and Sophie.
Sharon is thankful for and will cherish the 52 WONDERFUL GLORIOUS YEARS.
Survived by younger sister Debbie and predeceased by older sister Irene.
Dear extended family and friends will hold Royce close in their hearts.
Stay tuned for a Celebration of Life
planned for spring/summer of 2022, you won't want to miss it!

Shocked to hear about the passing of Royce. He was a great business associate who I considered a good friend. He was always a source of new jokes and always ready to listen to my bad jokes as well. We always saw each other at the oil company golf tournaments and let with a sore stomach from the laughter. He will be missed. Vic Robinson - Posted by: Vic Robinson (Freind) on: Nov 18, 2021

My condolences to Sharon and family. I did not know Royce but went to school and worked with Sharon at CIBC. Royce sounded like someone that I would have loved to have as a friend and he certainly made a positive impact on everyone that knew him. Stay strong. - Posted by: Sharon Ford (Acquaintance) on: Nov 18, 2021

Sharon, Andrea and Ryan - Somewhat of an era has ended in Winnipeg. If you never have heard of Royce, you were never in business. Bad jokes, lunches and of course the trip to the Stampede. Here was one in BILLION! Even after retirement (sort of) we would run into each other and it was always more of the same. He is already missed and will be forever. Dearest Roycie. You always were AND will forever remain one of a kind. I had the privilege of knowing you for over 50 years and cherish the memories of so many times together (like when you chased a gaggle of geese on a golf course, which allowed you to demonstrate your athletic tumbling skills). In our eyes, there was something about you that was larger than life - and sadly Winnipeg will not be the same after your passing. But fear not, dear brother-in-law, I will have a fine bottle of your favorite Scotch at the ready next spring/summer to celebrate your life and enduring memory. It has been an honor to have you in our lives. And to Sharon, Ryan and Andrea - and your families - we can't wait to see you again. But one question: about the '56 Chevy ... - Posted by: Al and Nancy McCalder (Family (brother-in-law)) on: Nov 15, 2021

To Sharon Ryan and Andrea - My deepest condolences on your loss of Royce. I will always remember him with his wit and off the cuff jokes. One time Ryan and I were playing hockey together out in Stony Mountain and when we came out of the arena Royce yells out look at the sob snow. I laughed so hard because that who Royce was. I ran into him a few years ago and he asked me what did I grow up to do I told him I was doing the sales thing. He laughed and said I always had the gift of gab, I replied I learned from the best and that was you Mr Yackel. After we talked shop for a bit I had to run I said it was really great seeing you again Mr Yackel he stopped me right there and said you are old enough for you to call me Royce already I said next time I see him I will do that. Heaven got a salesman with the wit of all comedians put together he will be missed Anthony Mihaychuk - Posted by: Anthony Mihaychuk (Friend of the family ) on: Nov 15, 2021

My Dear Sharon and Family! It wasn't long ago that we all met at the Pony Corral for a family get together. My Heart breaks that another Beloved Cousin has been taken from us due to this Cancer Gene we carry. One by One it takes its toll, until it rears its ugly head once again. Your battle with Royce was courageous and Many a Nite you Wept in Silence. Your tears did not go unnoticed, for God was with you, holding your hand the whole time. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. - Posted by: Susan Smid (Prosick) (Cousin) on: Nov 06, 2021

I am so saddened to read this, my sincere condolences to Family and Friends. I first met Royce in my early teens, a friend of my older brother Nick. We would go swimming at the pits in those days and I was accepted into that group. I would often see Royce at the Thunderbird Restaurant during my growing up years and many of his and brother Nick’s Friends. I had nothing but respect and admiration for Royce and could listen to him for hours, he was so funny. I am so happy that I got to know Royce and I know that he loved his wife and children with all his heart, he would talk about them often and was very proud of them. Royce was a good friend to all and will be sincerely missed, I know that I will. Rest In Peace Royce and May God Bless you and your Family. - Posted by: Nuno Camar (Friend) on: Nov 06, 2021
