Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My most heartfelt feelings go out to the patriarch of the family and to Jackelyne on the passing of a member of the Gudz clan. - Posted by: Philip () on: Dec 03, 2021

  • Memories Pour! I go back over 40 years with this remarkable man. After arriving in Brandon in 1979 I began setting up live broadcasting of Westman Super League Curling. Frank, Brian Moffat, Murray Nye, Ted Bridgett, Murray Oliver, Neil Andrews, etc. were the top teams of the era. I soon came to nickname Mr. Gudz Frank "Robin Hood" Gudz in respect to his curling game "HE STEALS FROM THE RICH (other teams) and GIVES TO THE POOR (himself). Frank could have buried me for such silly nick-naming. Instead he embraced it. One week in Super League Frank & his entire team came out in Robin Hood (Flour) hats. He embraced his nickname and it created great ribaldry for years in Brandon's curling community. Today, it make be a long forgotten tidbit in Westman Sports History. RIP ROBIN HOOD, RIP. - Posted by: Morris Bay (Fellow Curling Traveler) on: Dec 02, 2021
