FUHRMANN, Bernice (Shelvey) was a very special person with a kind and generous heart, and a deep desire to help others. She was a faithful partner, a devoted mother, and a listening friend. Over the years she always opened her home to welcome and support others. Born in a farmhouse in Forrest, Manitoba, Bernice was always a prairie girl at heart. She was the fourth child of Halhad and Eva (Hales) Shelvey. Following her siblings, she attended a two-room schoolhouse in Glanton and high school in Forrest. She was an imaginative youngster, who loved baseball, singing, and playing the piano. After attending Brandon Collegiate, Bernice attended Saskatoon Bible College in her desire to serve God. She married Ervin Fuhrmann on July 12, 1952, making their first home in Imperial, Saskatchewan where they pastored a church and began their family. Over 50 years of active pastoring, they served congregations in Atikokan, ON, Virden, MB, Camrose, AB, Lake Cowichan, BC, Grand Forks, BC, and Squamish, BC. They retired in Aldergrove and spent the past seven years part of the Langley community where they attended Christian Life Assembly. Bernice loved to sing hymns, fellowship with others, and was often found making tea and inviting others into her home or patio. Bernice is survived by her husband Ervin, her brothers Roy, Percy and Ernest, and children Eva, Marlene, Mark, Starla and Jennifer. She was deeply loved by her 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Elmer and sisters Eileen and Muriel. She will be remembered for her faith in God, her unwavering dedication to her family, and a servant heart to those in need.

Condolences to Pastor Furman and family. We have fond memories of your time in Virden as our pastor. Bernice was always so friendly and kind. We remember the young family and visits out at Cecil and Naomi Cairns' farm. When we lose a loved one it is special to have precious memories. We had a nice visit with her at her Mom's funeral. - Posted by: Wayne and Marilyn Phillips (Friends from few years ago at Virden,mb.) on: Jan 31, 2022
