Peacefully, on February 9, at Misericordia Place Personal Care Home, Caroline (Carrie) Bernhardt (nee Paradowski) passed away at the age of 93 years. Carrie was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Mary Paradowski and her husband Don Bernhardt.
Carrie was born in Winnipeg on January 8, 1929. Carrie graduated from Sir Isaac Newton High School and went on to have long careers at Manitoba Blue Cross and later with the Canadian Income Tax Department, where she obtained her Registered Industrial Accountant's designation, ending her career as a Tax Department auditor.
Carrie will be loved and remembered by her sister Stephanie Young; son Randy Duvell (Bev); nieces and nephews, Alison Dreger, Susan Wiebe (Jason), Heather Harte (Neil), Michael Mark (Laurie) and Robert Mark and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Carrie enjoyed league five pin bowling at Billy Mosienko Lanes. She and husband Don spent many happy times on their boat, the Golden Condor, entertaining friends and taking boat trips down the Red River to Gimli during the summer and snowmobiling with friends during Manitoba winters. During her life, Carrie travelled the world, both with friends and solo. She enjoyed cruising as well as her adventures to the Great Wall of China, Europe, the Caribbean and Hawaii.
Carrie was an excellent cook and baker and delighted in hosting friends and family at her home.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Misericordia Place for the love, care and respect with which they treated Carrie during her stay.
Cremation has taken place. The family will have a memorial service and interment at a later date.
In memory of Carrie, donations may be made to the Manitoba Alzheimer Society https://alzheimer.mb.ca/
