ROBERT (BOB) PLATT
August 19, 1948 - February 10, 2022
With heavy hearts of grief, we announce the passing of our husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, Robert (Bob) Platt, on February 10, 2022.
Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years Sherry (nee Jarmuske); his two sons, Corey (Laura) and Cameron; along with three grandchildren, Avery, Sage and Ashton. He is also survived by his sister Cathy (Jamie); and brother Brian (Anita).
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Jean; brother William (Bill); parents-in-law, Albert and Agnes Jarmuske; and brothers-in-law, Norman Jarmuske and Glen Morash.
Bob was Sherry's Rock and Soulmate, whether taking the wheel on epic distance road trips or flying to sunny destinations, he was her protector and perfect companion. Sherry is heartbroken to have him taken away. She knows he's gone in body, but he will be in her heart forever.
He will be missed by all his family, friends, previous co-workers, classic car guys and the West St. Paul community he called home for many years. A special thanks to the West St. Paul Fire Department, that he was so proud to be a part of, for honouring Bob's many years of service and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him and whose lives he impacted greatly.
Thank you to family and friends who were there to support and make each day less difficult. Also, thank you to the many doctors and staff that assisted in Bob's care. Special thanks to Dr. Gingerich and Nurse Crazy Cheryl from CancerCare and Palliative Care Coordinator Lori, and all the visiting nurses, especially Kija, also another big thank-you to Steph at WCB.
Everyone's support and kindness meant the world to Bob. He fought strong and hard until the end.
Dad, you are my hero, my mentor and my best friend. You will be remembered and forever admired for your dedication to family, your work ethic, and your values. I will miss your daily words of wisdom, advice and guidance. I am the man I am today because of you.

Dad was my hero, my best friend, the man I looked up to more than anyone else in the world. He was always there for me whenever I needed him. Whether it was giving me advice on how to fix even the smallest things, or our many chats about work, life or anything else, I knew that Dad was always there to support me. Dad helped shape me into the man I am today, and even though he's gone I know he'll always be watching over me.

In accordance with Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. A Come and Go Celebration of Life is planned for Summer of 2022.

I don’t know if this is the same Bob Platt who I had the pleasure of working with at Burns Foods while I was a summer student there in the early to mid ‘70s. Although after all these years I can’t remember 99% of the people I worked with there, I still distinctly remember Bob because he was such a real nice, down-to-earth fellow well liked by all his co-workers. I am certainly not surprised by the touching words of his sons as I am sure he was an excellent husband and father. My condolences and deepest sympathies to the family. I only met Mr Platt once. However, I remember that his smile and laugh were infectious. He was reiterating to Cameron and I, of an unfortunate situation of him being stung by a wasp and the end result was not a good one (not that any wasp sting is a good one). He had a very bad reaction however, the way he delivered the story with such a good attitude really showed the positive man he was and his outlook on bad situations. To meet this man once was almost a travesty as I could not experience the light and laughter I’m sure that he brought to every room he entered. I’ve known Cameron for some time now and if his personality, kindness and friendship are the reflection of who you were in life, which I know they are, you were a great man. - Posted by: Rikki (Friend ) on: Feb 20, 2022

Bob and I worked at Niakwa White Rose service station together for a year or so. Bob worked part time. He was a character then and I'm sure was later in life as well. We hadn't seen one another until I found out he was a neighbor to my former Boss, Bob Degrave.
