PHILLIPS, SAMUEL NEIL January 26, 1931-February 7, 2022 Neil was born on a farm just outside Ninette, Manitoba. He grew up there with his parents, Edith and Ivan, and siblings Bernice, Gary and Jean. At age 20, he moved to Brandon, where he soon met the love of his life Lorna, they married in 1954. They had two children, Lynn and Wendy. He and Lorna were rarely apart. They enjoyed camping, travelling and square dancing. They spent many winters in Florida before moving to Kelowna in 1998. Neil square danced until 2019. Neil worked as a mechanic at Western Motors (1951-1966) and at Simplot (1966-1986), he retired when he was 55. In 2008, Lorna passed away suddenly while they were vacationing in Washington. He missed her deeply. In 2016, his youngest daughter Wendy passed away after a battle with cancer. In 2017 Neil moved to Red Deer where he resided in a care home. Neil was a very loving and caring person with a gret sense of humor. He was always willing to help and would willingly "give the shirt off his back" to help. He will be missed by many as he held a special place in the hearts of those who knew him. Neil is survived by his daughter, Lynn (Brian Henkel), grandson Aaron Miller (Georgia) and great-granddaughter Tilly. Son in Law, Doug Shoemaker. Granddaughter, Angela Shoemaker and great-grandchildern, Brayden, Teaghan, Zain and Jayce. Sister, Jean Deihl as well as many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta or Red Deer Hospice Society. Internment will take place at the Brandon Cemetery at a later date.
