HULDA HIRSCH
1925 - 2022
Hulda Hirsch (nee Gretschmann), 96, of Winnipeg, left this world and entered eternal glory on March 24, 2022.
Hulda was born on December 13, 1925 to Sophie and Eduard Gretschmann in Schlangendorf, Ukraine. After escaping Russia during the Second World War, Hulda, along with her mother and siblings, made their way back to Germany. There they resided in Schwaebisch Gemuend.
She met Alexander Hirsch (deceased) and was married on May 23, 1947. They had six children together: Manfred, Gunther - deceased (Arlene), Ingrid Dyck (Russel), Helga Klassen (Jake), Rita Giesbrecht (Victor) and Alvin (Angie). Oma left a rich legacy to her 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Hulda. She loved entertaining, reaching out to others, gardening and spending time in nature, especially bird watching. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities. Her grateful and loving personality was contagious to everyone she met.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 31, 10:00 a.m., at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee for relief in Ukraine.

My deepest condolences to Manfred and family. Daniel often spoke highly of his grandmother, saying how kind and special she was to him. Remember all those good times and cherish those memories. My thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Sandy Kupchak (Mary's sister) on: Mar 30, 2022
