McKELLAR: Maxine Pearl, age 89 years, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Maxine is survived by her daughters Dianne (Albert) Swaenepoel of Souris and Donna Caughell of Brandon, grandchildren Bryan (Candice), Matthew and Jill Swaenepoel and six great-grandchildren Jack, Ava, Carson, Tanin, Tegan and Riley. Max was predeceased by her parents Archie and Ila McKellar, brothers Doug, Bill, Neal, and twin sister Marion Nicholls. Born on August 24, 1932 at the Deloraine Hospital, Max grew up in Melita where she loved to play softball and figure skate. The family moved to Brandon in 1948, where Max completed her schooling and took a business course at St. Michael's Academy. Max worked in Shilo, Breen Motors, Woollen Mills and Fairview Home. After retirement, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren play ball and hockey, swimming, travelling, playing bingo and watching golf, curling and tennis on the television. A Graveside Service will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Maxine may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3E 0V9.
