DORIS MILDRED EVANCHUK
November 5, 1928 – March 30, 2022

Doris Mildred Evanchuk (nee Upton) passed away peacefully at age 93, at the St. Joseph Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 30, 2022.
Predeceased by her husband Thomas in 2010 and her sons-in-law, George Szyda and Joseph MacDonald, she was the last surviving member of her Upton family, who began their journey on a small homestead in Gerald, Saskatchewan. She leaves behind her children, Elaine Szyda, Jim (Evelyn), Donna (Claude) and Diane MacDonald. Though she has left us, her love and the many cherished memories will live on in our hearts forever. She was the loving grandmother to 11 grandchildren: Jacquie and Matthew; Neil, Michelle, Jasmine and Trevor; Anneleise, Shanleigh, Keane and Sean; and Caylee. Doris was also the great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren: Avery; Stella and Audrey; Madeleine and Damian; and Jordyn.
Doris was the epitome of love; unquestionable, unconditional and unending love. She wove the silver lining into the lives of her family and anyone who had the fortune of knowing her. She will be forever remembered for her gentleness, kindness and caring heart.
In keeping with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
Our family wishes to recognize and sincerely thank the staff and volunteers at St. Joseph Personal Care Home for their compassion and care of our mother Doris and for their personal strength and resilience throughout the challenging times imposed by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
