MARGARET ROSE MORRIS
March 30, 1927 – April 20, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Margaret Rose Morris on Wednesday April 20, 2022 at the age of 95.
Margaret was born in Menzies, Manitoba on March 30, 1927 to Edward and Catherine Spraggs; parents of eleven children. Later after moving to Winnipeg, she met and married Peter Morris in 1958 and they had two sons together.
She was predeceased by her husband Peter Morris, as well as a number of her siblings. Margaret is survived by her two sons, Robert (Philomena) and Donald (Shelly); grandchildren, Brittany, Stephanie (Anderson), Alanna, Connor, and Kiah (Connor) and siblings, Mary and Douglas (Donna).
Margaret was a small woman with a big heart and her home was often a revolving door to friends, family members, international students, or anyone in need of a place to stay. She loved to host guests in her home and she truly brought people together with her words of kindness and encouragement.
Following Margaret's wishes, cremation has taken place. A small funeral service will be held for immediate family. All other family and friends are invited to join us at an internment service Tuesday, April 26 at 2:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice in her memory would be appreciated.

  • I met Margaret while working with P. - Posted by: Maggie klepatz (Friend) on: May 03, 2022

  • Margaret and I first met while working for the Federal Gov't. During our working relationship, we made a connection and it was obvious that we would become good friends for life. Margaret was a woman of integrity, compassion, understanding, honesty and kindness. She was a "Classy Lady" who had an infectious personality. She had a good sense of humour and made me laugh constantly. Margaret was full of optimism and looked confidently to the future. No challenge was beyond her capacity. Margaret was an excellent mother and mentor to her two beautiful boys and who is credited for their successes in life. I last spoke to Margaret on March 23rd to make arrangements to meet for lunch in April. I was saddened by her sudden passing. I will miss her dearly. There are those in the world that touch others: people that make a difference in our lives. They help us, make us better people, make our lives complete. Margaret was one of those people. To not know Margaret, is one's loss. - Posted by: Douglas Morin (Friend and Co-Worker) on: Apr 26, 2022

  • Deepest condolences on Margaret’s passing. Amazing lady. I recall being in Bangkok with JP in 1989. Margaret had an important message for JP. She managed with her skill to locate us in a Hotel where we were staying. No social media then. Rest in Peace - Posted by: Edward Goralski (Friend of Margaret and Peter) on: Apr 26, 2022

  • Our deepest sympathies to family and friends! We lived right across the street from Margaret and we spent many happy days sitting on our front steps watching our children/grandchildren play. I will be forever grateful to her for her companionship, and the caring, laughter and wisdom she shared so freely with everyone. Margaret was a rare treasure and we will miss her! - Posted by: Katherine Getz and David Silverthorne and kids,Daniel and Elyse (Friends ) on: Apr 25, 2022

  • Margaret was as beautiful by nature and in spirit as she was in person, and her passing is a great loss to those who knew her. (Barbara was a co-worker and friend of Margaret for many years.) - Posted by: Bob & Barbara Strong (Friends) on: Apr 24, 2022

  • So sorry to hear of Margaret's passing. She was our neighbour on Garfield and always such a pleasure to chat with. She attended some of our street functions such as Christmas parties and participated in the block parties and garage sales. She also helped out at McClure Place events. Margaret was a very nice, positive, caring and classy lady. She will be missed. Our condolences to her family and friends.
